"This Bastard Disease" as written by and Clare Bowditch....
I'm not sure who to confide in any more about you.
Nobody can say. Nobody can explain
from here - where to?

I want to protect you.
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.

On good days
it's fair to say your face lights up for me.
You still remind me of all that once did bind,
of all the little happy things.

I want to protect you.
I want to kill this bastard disease,
but it will not talk to me.

General CommentIt sounds to me like her lover is an alcoholic, and she believes the disease model of alcoholism. I don't, but that's the way I read the song - and it touches me. It is very beautiful. I really like her unaccompanied version.

General Commenti think it's about someone very close to her that has amnesia and cannot remember her love for them

General CommentIt's about her father, who had dementia or Alzheimer's or something, from the perspective of her mother
