I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
When I am fast asleep
I dream and see you floating high above me
And I awake at dawn
Before the rays of morning paint the front lawn
From on the bedroom floor
I watch you sailing far above the seashore
In deep Atlantic skies
You float as I look aft to watch the moon rise
Above the avenue
I search above the clouds, trying to see you
But you are just a blur
In the sky when you parachute over the harbor
I can see
You above with the ocean around me
If I could only stay
Overhead in the airway
You sail through
Endless sky with the evening around you
When I'm out on the bay
You're aloft in the airway
When I'm alone at night
I dream you paint the stars against the twilight
Suspended in the air
I wish your silhouette would always stay there
When I am on the beach
I watch you held aloft way out of my reach
But I can not take flight
Or float upon the air the way that you might
When I am in the sea
You gazed down from the sky, trying to see me
But I am just a blur
Through the waves, as I scuba dive below the harbor
The airway
You and I in the airway
Aloft in the airway
In love in the airway
I can see
You above with the ocean around me
If I could only stay
Overhead in the airway
You sail through
Endless sky with the evening around you
When I'm out on the bay
You're aloft in the airway

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

I think that this song is about two lovers that cannot be together because of who they are. The two lovers are symbolized in this song by the "you" and "I" in the lyrics. To me, the two lovers are like the sun and the moon. The analogy doesn't fit perfectly, but here's my reasoning.
"I can see You above with the ocean around me If I could only stay Overhead in the airway You sail through Endless sky with the evening around you When I'm out on the bay You're aloft in the airway"
Imagine that this takes place by the ocean. As the sun sets into the ocean, the moon rises and sails through the sky. It's the same again later in the song, just reversed. The two are in The Airway (i.e. life) but only catch glimpses of each other as life and time keep them apart. While one is in the sky flying, the other cannot take flight because of the way the world works. These lovers would be together if they could, but life prevents them from doing so.
love love love.
its about being in love.
This one is kind of hard to decipher. It seems like she's on a boat, and he's on land, but then "into the airway" throws me off. Possibly she's jumping from an airplane into the sea, but that doesn't seem to make much sense.
I'm thinking that they're seperated the sea, like maybe she's on vacation/lives in Europe while he's in America or something. And then I thought that "the ariway" could symbolize telephone communication. Because a lot of people envision talking on the phone as having their words float in the air into the ear of the person they're talking to. So "being in love on the airway" could be them falling in love with each other over the telephone.
Just my interpretation. This song is really cute...I'm surprised it doesn't have any more comments, actually. It's the first I ever heard by him.
I think that maybe he is thinking about someone who has died. Someone he loved who is gone, but he can still feel them all around him, being comforted by thier presence. It def seems like that tome, especially during the 2nd verse (i think).
I could be totally off, but its just my perspective on it.
Agreed, especially "if only i could stay overhead in the airway" meaning if only he could be with her in heaven
this song is one of my top faves :]
Mine too! :)
I think this song is about the sun. It sounds sort of silly, but it sounds as if he loves the sun, because it brings him new days. He wishes the sun would never go away, and he wishes that he could go up into the airway and keep it there.
"When I'm alone at night I dream you paint the stars against the twilight" He is comforted by the sun, so he dreams that it creates the stars just so he can still have a shred of sun even at night.
I hope that made sense. :P
I agree with you about the sun, but i think its about the sun and the moon.

when the sun is asleep, the moon is up, but when he comes up the moon is going down.

He can see her in the sky when the the ocean is all around him.

either that or it is a fish and a bird, either way, this is a brillantly written song
I think this song is about someone he loves who he's now out of touch with. Things didn't work out and he can see her slipping away right before his eyes, and he's just not ready for it. And she doesn't notice that he wants her back, she ignores him. So "the airway" is the distance between them. And he wishes they were in love, instead of the distance, which refers to "in love in the airway".
I think this song is about him, a fish, who is in love with a bird. "You sail through Endless sky with the evening around you" this is obviously referring to a bird. "When I'm out on the bay".

I think we have a winner! Adam is a very heady and creative lyricist. It isn't always about sex and women... This song is about what jptalondsm says :)
I think this song is about a guy in love with a girl, who is much better than him in every aspect, and he could never match up to her standard, yet he still dreams of being with her.
love love love.
