If I had no more time
No more time left to be here
Would you cherish what we had?
Was I everything that you were looking for?
If I couldn't feel your touch
And no longer were you with me
I'd be wishing you were here
To be everything that I'd be looking for
I don't wanna forget the present is a gift
And I don't wanna take for granted the time you may have here with me
'Cause Lord only knows another day here is not really guaranteed

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again
Every time you touch me
Touch me like this is the last time
Promise that you'll love me
Love me like you'll never see me again

Oh, oh, oh

How many really know what love is?
Millions never will
Do you know until you lose it
That it's everything that we are looking for?
When I wake up in the morning
You're beside me
I'm so thankful that I found
Everything that I been looking for

I don't wanna forget the present is a gift
And I don't wanna take for granted the time you may have here with me
'Cause Lord only knows another day here is not really guaranteed

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again
Every time you touch me
Touch me like this is the last time
Promise that you'll love me
Love me like you'll never see me again

So every time you hold me
Hold me like this is the last time
Every time you kiss me
Kiss me like you'll never see me again
(Can you do that for me, baby?)
Every time you touch me
(See, we don't really know)
Touch me like this is the last time
(See, everyday we never know)
Promise that you'll love me
(I want you to promise me)
Love me like you'll never see me again
(Like you'll never see me again)

Oh, oh, oh

Wow! I'm the first person to comment on this lovely song? You automatically get a Prince vibe from hearing this. I gotta admit, I wasn't feeling it at first. But hearing a couple of times and watching the music video ( it's very good, people! so give it a watch :] ), I can't stop listening.

I think this song is about unconditional love and not taking that for granted. No one is guaranteed tomorrow and too many people take life for granted. When your in love with someone, you should always tell them. I think thats what the message Alicia is trying to send. Too many people take love for granted, which is where the whole 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' thing comes in. When you love someone, tell them everyday that you do because you don't know if they will be here tomorrow. And that is one of the worst things to experience. "love me like you'll never see me again" is saying to live each day as it is your last and make sure you tell the people you love that you love them because they might not be here tomorrow.

This is probably one of my most favorite alicia keys song. It's a very emotional song.. alicia keys voice here is just absolutely beautiful, and you can really feel her pain throughout. you can tell she truly means every word that she says in this song. even though the song itself has a rather positive message, there is still that other side to it - that heartbreak feeling when you've lost love or someone so dear to you. I think thats why its such a great song. and the production of it as well is phenomenal; really just love the mellow string cortet.

I watched an old interview of Alicia back in '07, when she was talking about the As I Am album. during the time before it was released, she talked about having a lot of ups & downs in her life. she got to a point of feeling very melancholy and down a lot. She just didnt know where she wanted to take things. a few months before the release of As I Am, she visited Egypt and parts of Europe, and said how much it really changed her whole life and her whole perspective of things. she said it just made her a stronger person, and she said it really gave her some time to take a break and heal. apparently some of the songs were written before she left to egypt, and some songs were written after. but its cool to hear how the whole album grows in general. On some of the tracks (such as Go Ahead, Like Youll never see me again, lesson learned, the thing about love, tell you something) you can really feel her pain. it is also rumored that she had gotten teary while singing in the studio for like youll never see me again & the thing about love.

alicia keys in general is just an amazing artist. in my opinion shes the only r&b artist nowadays who just sits down (piano or not) and just sings her heart out. for me, shes a very big influence. her lyrics speak to me. Her songs just pierce your soul whether they are the songs from Songs in a Minor or Element of Freedom.

The music video for this song is what makes it. I heard it on the album and it didn't grab me like most of the other tracks, but when I saw the clip and started listening to it more, I started loving it. From Fallin to If I Ain't Got You to Like You'll Never See Me Again, Alicia is one heck of a love song writer.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
