Stacked up against the odds, I come
Spit on the whole sorry scene
Relax just for the hell of it
She laughs, although she never has been
She cracks up, says she can't stop to
Walk on the cracks in the street
My back is up, until she says
Nobody does it better than me, and

With our PC scars
And our TV tans
And the risk gets worse just at the best of times
Turn the TV off, we are going home
It's the risk we run

Spit it out, say what's on your mind
Afraid I am not a machine
You nearly see me hang for it
Now this is really getting obscene

Black days, she's lazy in her bed
Black out, she's starting again
That smacks of staking with the first
First hazy thing that goes into her head

With our PC scars
And our TV tans
And the risk gets worse
Just at the best of times
Turn the TV off, we are going home
It's the risk we run

F: 'I WASN'T GOING TO, I THOUGHT I WOULD LEAVE FOR GOOD.'
M: 'WHY'D YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND?'
F: 'I DIDNT CHANGE MY MIND, I JUST HAVEN'T DECIDED WHAT I'M GOING TO DO YET.'
M: '... IF I HAVE A VOTE IN IT, I SAY WE STAY.'}

With our PC scars
And our TV tans
And the risk gets worse
Just at the best of times
Turn the TV off, we are going home
It's the risk we run

Nobody does it better than me
If not me, who can you believe?
Nobody does it better than me
If not me, who can you believe?
Nobody does it better than me

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
