It's alright honey
Sit back and sigh
The world as you know it is ending
So swallow your pride
She left you with a bagful of reasons
More like lies
So buckle up that seatbelt
And kiss your sorry ass goodbye

The only thing bright was the overhead light
Casting shadows on the empty
Spot to my right
This car is getting smaller with
Every breath I take
And I'm thinking maybe
I made a mistake
For letting her go
No, not the girl
Who gave me everything
Her whole fucking world
Who I left without reason
Broke down in shame
I'm beginning to realize
It's me who's to blame
So

Buckle up baby
You're driving way too fast
You took the wrong way
Down a one way track
The speedometer just hit ninety
Now there's no turning back
So sit down
Shut up
And put a
Brick on the gas

She prepared a novel ending
To a heartbreak goodbye
You said you never need someone
Well frankly that's a lie
The wheel isn't turning
But the road is veering wide
One hundred ten, one hundred twenty
Kiss your sorry ass goodbye

Buckle up baby
You're driving way too fast
You took the wrong way
Down a one way track
The speedometer just hit ninety
Now there's no turning back
So sit down
Shut up
And put a
Brick on the gas

The car is burning in the moonlight
But it seems that we've survived
With the clothing on our backs
And what's left of our lives
Your eyes meet mine
And the pressure starts to rise
This bridge is burnt, but it's still smoldering
As we reach for our knives

I cut your seatbelt baby
And the airbag's not that fast
I'll laugh my fuckin' ass off
As you plummet down that path
The speedometer just topped out
Now your world fades to black
So sit down
Shut up
And put a fucking brick
On the gas
On the gas
On the gas
Wow!

Thanks goes out to Jilaine, aka Beautiful Wonderful. The lyrics are mostly hers, I just tuned em up a little and put em to music. She's as bitterly neurotic about ex's as I am, but luckily, we kick ass at writing lyrics.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
