"Tell You Something" as written by Alonzo Mario Stevenson, Jr. Brothers, Alicia J Augello-cook, Paul L Green, S Moysten and Ray Haney....
Get so caught up everyday
Tryna keep it all together
While the time it slips away
You see I know nothing last forever

Imagine there was no tomorrow
Imagine that I couldn't see your face
There would be no limit to my sorrow
So all I can say

I wanna tell you something, give you something
Show you in so many ways
'Cause it would all mean nothing if I don't say something before it all goes away
Don't wanna wait to bring you flowers, waste another hour let alone another day
I'm gonna tell you something, show you something, won't wait till it's too late

(I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait)
(I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait)

Just a simple conversation
Just a moment is all it takes
I wanna be there just to listen
(I wanna be here)
And I don't wanna hesitate

Imagine there was no tomorrow
Imagine that I couldn't see your face
There would be no limit to my sorrow
'Cause there's nothing that could fill that space
I don't wanna put it off for too long
I didn't say all that I had to say
I wanna take my time and right the wrong before we get to that place

I wanna tell you something, give you something
Show you in so many ways
'Cause it would all mean nothing if I don't say something before it all goes away
Don't wanna wait to bring you flowers, waste another hour let alone another day
I'm gonna tell you something, show you something, won't wait till it's too late

Just lean on my shoulder,
It's not over till it's over
Don't worry about it cause
I'm gonna make sure our bond gets stronger
I don't wanna wait till the storm and something wrong and now you're gone and I can't find you

I wanna tell you something, give you something
Show you in so many ways
'Cause it would all mean nothing if I don't say something before it all goes away
Don't wanna wait to bring you flowers, waste another hour let alone another day
I'm gonna tell you something, show you something, won't wait till it's too late

I wanna tell you something, give you something
Show you in so many ways
'Cause it would all mean nothing if I don't say something before it all goes away
Don't wanna wait to bring you flowers, waste another hour let alone another day
I'm gonna tell you something, show you something, won't wait till it's too late

I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait
I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait
I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait
I can't wait, I can't wait, I won't wait, I don't wanna wait

General CommentI think this song is about being afraid to tell someone something. It ties in with the song "love me like you'll never see me again" but kind've contradicts that because this person can't tell this person something and they want to but don't know how. when things are left unsaid, they fade away and there are always the questions of "what if." Regret is the last thing anyone wants to experience and she doesnt wanna regret not saying something before its too late.

General CommentI think it's about how hard it's to say to someone that you love him. But she wants to say because she's afraid that he/she dies. So I dont think it's for a lover... Maybe it's for a grandmother or something...

General CommentThis is probably one of the most beautiful songs Alicia Keys has ever written and recorded. I loved it. The track listing for the album lists this song as "Tell You Something (Nana's Reprise)", 'Nana' could most definitely be a grandmother, she most likely wrote this song to her grandmother.

The overall song is about spending time with and letting a certain special someone know how you feel about them (it doesn't have to be a romance it could be a family member or a friend).
