I guess I sort of lied when I said it's not that bad.
That dog, black cat, that little tiny man...
I guess I sort of lied when I said it's not that bad.
I fly that helicopter, that red and white van.

Ohio, is it too late, Ohio?

We're talking paper forks now!
We're talking bacon cuts now!
We're talking turkey, talking turkey, walking every ???? now!
We're talking 16 ska bands!
We're talking 19 ska bands!
We're talking rooty suits and rooty boots and sooty moots do!

I guess I sort of lied when I said it's not that bad.
That dog, BLACK CAT! That little tiny man...
I guess I sort of lied when I said it's not that bad.
I'd fly that helicopter, that red and white van.

Ohio, is it too late, Ohio?

General CommentWhat he lists on the website, and what he says at the end are two entirely different things. But there's probably another version somewhere. Mine's off Twacky Cats.

My InterpretationI think this song is about Dan's Ska band he tried creating in high school and how he now realizes that Ska is a silly and hopeless genre.

    "We're talking 16 ska bands...
We're talking 19 ska bands..." (Back then Ska was the "cool" scene, and teenage ska bands were more of a commodity than pedophiles on myspace)
"We're talking rudie suits and rudie boots..." (suits and boots that ska kids or "rudies" wear. Suits usually bought at thrift stores and boots usually Doc Martins)
"And hooty flutes too" (I imagine he's talking about the horn sections?)

All the other non sensical lyrics are just silly absurd visual devices, and ultimately a catalyst to get people talking about Dan Deacon and his music.

Lyric CorrectionIt's actually "walking every walk now", "60s Ska bands", "90s Ska bands", and "We're talking rooty suits and rooty boots and hooty flutes do!".
