"Can't Go Back" as written by Jacob William Hoggard, Christian Robert Crippin, Thomas Walter Macdonald, Dave Rosin, David Robert Madison Genn, Ben Cook and Greig Nori....
In a time when everything was free
And the whole damn world revolved around me
I can't go back and I won't go back to you
To believe somebody else could pay
For mistakes I so carelessly made
I can't go back and I won't go back to you

But I can't set free this part of me
When I'm crawling back to you
And I won't let you forget how far we've gone

Because that one great final mistake
Is the one thing I won't let you make
So take my advice, and save your goodbyes
I won't let you fall apart on your own
You're never alone

We've burned the books and made it harder
For you to be the fire started
I can't go back and I won't go back to you

And as you leave I can't believe
It's me I see in you
And I won't let you forget how far we've gone

Because that one great final mistake
Is the one thing I won't let you make
So take my advice, and save your goodbyes

You're gone, so move on; it's time we let things go
You're gone, so move on; it's time we let things go
You're gone so move on

And that one great final mistake
Is the one thing I won't let you make
So take my advice, and save your goodbyes
I won't let you fall apart on your own
You're never alone
(Without you I would doubt you)
You're never alone
(Without you I would doubt you)
You're never alone
(Without you I would doubt you)
You're never alone
(Without you I would doubt you)
You're never alone

    General Commentin the chorus,

[[Cause that one great final mistake
is that one thing I wont let you make
So take my advice and save your good-byes
I wont let you fall apart on your own
    you're never alone]]

i think the "one great final mistake" is suicide.
i think he, the singer, is trying to convince someone not to make that mistake by reminding the person of how many good times they've had together and how much people care about him/her.

this song really hits home for me because i have a friend that has contemplated suicide and she won't listen to anyone when we tell her how much we care about her. i just want to play this song for her, but i think she'd take it offensively.

anyone else feel the same way as i do about this song?

General Commentwell i have two opinions.

at first i agreed with dialtoneeee with the idea of it being suicide because the chorus could fit that perfectly.

but looking at the rest of the song and the chorus together i think it has something to do with his gf or some one close to him leving him

To believe somebody could pay for mistakes I so carelessly made (he messed up the relationship?)

I can't go back and I wont go back to you
But I can't set free this part of me when I'm crawling back to you (he cant take back his mistakes yet he always comes back to her)

Cause that one great final mistake, is that one thing I wont let you make
So take my advice and save you're good-byes
I wont let you fall apart on you're own, you're never alone (he doesnt want her ot leave?)

    you're gone, so move on.
It's time we let things go, your gone, so move on. (telling her okay then leave?)

without you I wouldn't doubt you.
You're never alone (youve always got me so u dont have to leave)

it kinda goes back and forth from dont go to go but i think that what its bout :S

General CommentI think this song it about a couple who broke up. The guy thinks its for the best and they shouldn't be together but he wants her to know that he will always be there for her("I won't let you fall apart on your own, you're never alone."). He doesn't want to be with hes for the wrong reasons, which is why he is saying he cant go back, but he doesn't want her life to fall apart so he won't let her make that one great final mistake. That's what I get from it anyways. "I won't let you forget how far we've come" is my favourite part. Hits home for me.
