It's in the air you breath
And it's also in the water.
It's something you can't see
You've been warned of by you mothers
You've had enough to see
You know enough to see
Join the others
When you could hardly breath
You were wondering why you bothered

And they gave us
Seven days
To renounce our wicked ways
To late to make amends
Cause we both know how this ends!

So!
Do the right thing!
Do nothing!
WOAHH!
[What will you do when they come for you?]
Just do what's easiest
[What will you do when they come for you?]
I think it's what I read, but I swore he said to me
Nine times out of ten you lied to me!
And now after all the conversation
No one will save you now!

We want it!
They got it!
They claim we'll die without it!
But something tells me they are Wrong!

So! What will you do when they call your name and you're
Not ready to go!?
Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know!
That you're in too deep and you can quite keep your secrets one and all
We might just make it after all
On our own
We might just make it after all

But we had
One foot on the gas, and one foot in the grave
Everyone was laughing when we said we had it made
Everyone was laughing when we said we had it made

They gave us seven days
To renounce our wicked ways
Too late to make amends
Cause we both know how this ends!

Started with six or seven moved on to eight on nine
[What will you do when they come for you?]
Nobody seemed to notice
Nobody seemed to mind
[What will you do when they come for you?]

Little miss dismiss lament the radio
I cannot believe you when you tell me what you know-oh-oh-oh
And nothing will be broken if you house was made of stone
But you know, as I do, it will never be a home

We want it!
They got it!
They claim we'll die with out it!
But something tells me they are wrong!

So! What will you do when they call your name and you're
Not ready to go!?
Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know!
That you're in too deep and you can quite keep your secrets one and all
We might just make it after all
On our own
We might just make it after all

The way the story tells out to me is:

someone living during an oppressive time in which religion was mandatory via gov't punishment has saw through the jaded lie of faith and realized in the end rationality will win over blind gullibility any day so they joined in the little group of faithless and they all said they had it made because they're eyes were seeing clearly and they no longer have to live in fear of a "god" and they actually lived for themselves

but (im guessing its in a time like the Spanish inquisition, probably hanging or something similar to the drowning of witches) one of the parties name gets called up to be public executed (much similar to the actual fashion used) and is commanded to rat out his partners and such (hence the secret) and the 7 days played into the song because spanish tried to get their infidels to ask god's forgiveness and make amends before their deaths which are imminent

it makes perfect sense to me....but then again I'm really friggin high.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
