i dream a little bit
about the chance of seeing you
and outside stays true
and outside through the windowpane
and the hole in my brain

i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself

and honey, it's stunning
at such a peculiar pace
i see the wrinkles in your face
start to deepen and form

and outside through the windowpane
and the hole in my brain

i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself
i'm getting getting getting hold of myself

and i said we'll run until the sun burns out
and i want to know
who wants to run until the sun burns out?
and we want to we want to
and i said we'll run until the sun burns out
and we want to know
who wants to run until the sun burns out?
and we want to we'd want to

and honey, it's fitting
at such an unusual time
i see the freckles and the lines
start to darken and sink

and i said we'll run until the sun burns out
and i'd like to know
who wants to run until the sun burns out?
and we'd like to we'd like to
and i said we'll run until the sun burns out
and we'd like to no
who wants to run until the sun burns out?
and we'd like to we'd like to

i have a feeling this about the distance between dan and madi. (; really. like, one person is missing this other person. they like having dreams because they dream about that special person. but when they do dream of that person, time is going on in the real world and they're getting older.

"i see the wrinkles in your face start to deepen and form"

meaning, time is going and they don't think they'll see each other anymore.

i think. i love this song. dan sings it wonderfully.

with the title in mind as well, "wrinkles in your face" brought to my mind dan's past drug use and seeing his peers sink deeper into theirs, with "getting hold of myself" referring to rehab and moving on from that lifestyle.

considering only the lyrics and no other personal information, there is a possibility this song refers to madi in a way, but in my opinion drug use is the main theme.

note the first line of the song comes from that of his earlier song, "same outfit."

all-in-all a simple but enjoyable preview track.

thats the not the name of the song!

and i think its about his mom. after his dad died they were all depressed and mourning and the "wrinkles in your face" represents that she's getting older with all the sadness!

To me this song is about life after his father died.

    "and outside through the windowpane"

This reminds me of without gravity when he is looking through the window waiting for his father to come home.

"i'm getting getting getting hold of myself" He's finding ways to deal with it the right way instead of drug use.

"who wants to run until the sun burns out?" He's looking for someone that wants to stay with him forever.

I think the wrinkles bit is about how his mother looks a lot older because she's mourning. Anyway thats just my interpretation.

robot child i noticed that too! When I first listened to it I was like, "Waittt isn't that from Same Outfit?"

"i see the wrinkles in your face start to deepen and form"

The wrinkles remind me of frown lines, so possibly this is about a bad time in their relationship. Or it could represent distance between them, the space between them becoming bigger.

OH and isn't this line from Bound to Get Caught? "i'm getting getting getting hold of myself"

Dan really incorporates lines from previous songs. He should just make a cd of his unreleased songs instead of picking them apart.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
