"Rise Above This" as written by and John Humphrey Shaun Morgan Welgemoed....
Take the night and darken everything around me,
Call the clouds, and listen closely, I'm lost without you

Call your name everyday
When I feel so helpless
I'm fallen down, but ill rise above this (rise above this)

Hate your mind, regrets are better left unspoken
For all we know this void will grow
And everything's in vain, distressing you don't leave me open
Feels so right that I'll end this all before it gets me

Call your name everyday, when I feel so helpless
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but I'll rise above this (rise above this)

Call your name everyday when I seem so helpless
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but ill rise above this rise, rise above this now

I'll mend myself before it gets me
I'll mend myself before it gets me
I'll mend myself before it gets me
I'll mend myself before it gets me

Call your name everyday
When I feel so helpless.
I'm fallen down (fallen down) but I'll rise above this (rise above this)
Forty eight ways to say that I'm feeling helpless, fallen down, and I'll?

Rise above this, rise above this, rise above this rise above this,
Rise above this now

General CommentTo me this song is talking about losing his brother to suicide and knowing that Shawn has wanted to take his own life so he wants to mend himself before he does it. Meaning he wants help because now he understands the devastation of a loved one committing suicide and would not want to put anyone else through that.

General CommentThis song is so powerful. You can definetly tell from just watching the video how bad it hurt Shaun to sing this. They had to stop several times while filming the video because of Shaun's sobbing. He really loved him. If you want to hear a band that also gets so intensley affected by teen or just any age suicide look up Hollywood Undead and their song pain.

General CommentGreat lyrics... describes exactly how I'm feeling now. I'm finding that alot of the songs on this new album do that.

Oh and one correction with the lyrics, it's not "rise about this now" it is supposed to be "rise about this DOUBT" =)

    Beautiful song.
It always puts me in a happy mood, and reminds me of overcoming obstacles.

    The album is amazing.

General CommentAnyone know the meaning behind "..forty eight ways to say...", maybe it's something insanely obvious and I'm just thinking too hard, but it's been bugging me

General CommentJ12, I have been wondering the exact same thing since I came across the lyrics. The only thing I can think of, in light of the video, is killing yourself by taking a forty-eight story plunge. I would love to know what others think.

General CommentBeautiful song. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. :)

J12, I was also wondering about that line. r_bloodworth's explanation is reasonable, but after reading a story online, it says he only jumped from eight stories.

I can't think of anything else that this line could symbolize...

General CommentThese are the correct lyrics for this song. No site seems to have it right.

Take the light and darken everything around me,
Call the clowns, and listen closely, I’m lost without you.

    Call your name everyday,
    When I feel so helpless.
I’ve fallen down, but I'll rise above this (rise above this).

Hate your mind, regrets are better left unspoken.
For all we know this void will grow,
And everything’s in vain, distressing you though it leave me open,
Feels so right but I’ll end this all before it gets me.

Call your name everyday, when I feel so helpless.
I’ve fallen down but I’ll rise above this, rise above this

Call your name everyday when I seem so helpless
I've fallen down, and I'll rise above this, rise above this doubt

I’ll mend myself before it gets me..
I’ll mend myself before it gets me..
I’ll mend myself before it gets me..
I’ll mend myself before it gets me..

    Call your name everyday,
    When I feel so helpless.
I’ve fallen down (fallen down) but I’ll rise above this, Rise above this
Forty-eight ways to say that i'm feeling helpless, I'm fallen down, and I’ll…

Rise above this, rise above this, rise above this rise above this, rise above this doubt.
