I first saw you at the video exchange
I know my heart, and it will never change
This temp work would be all right if you'd call me (you'd call me)
I lie awake at night and for you I pray

We cross the deepest oceans
Cargo across the sea
And if you don't believe me
Just put your hands on me
And all the constellations, shine down for us to see
And if you don't believe me, just put your hands on me (Ah, ah ah)

The subway radiates with heat
We've barely met, and still, I cross
The street
To your door

We cross the deepest oceans
Cargo across the sea
And if you don't believe me
Just put your hands on me
And all the constellations, shine down for us to see
And if you don't believe me, just put your hands on me (Ah, ah ah)

Someday when our stories are told
They'll tell of a love like this
When our descendants are all growing old
1,000 years we'll be singing

Na, na na, na na, na na na na

We climb Tibetan mountains, where we can barely breathe
I see the Dali Lama, I feel him blessing me
and all the constellations, shine down on you and me
and if you don't believe me, just put your hands on me

Na na na na na na na

Your hands on me

Na na na na na na na

I first saw you at the video exchange

i LOVE her new album!! i like DIED wen i hear the new songs for the 1st time! :P I think this song (like alealigirl said) is abt her beeing in love with a guy she barely knows....she saw him once...and it was love at first site...and the part that reflects that meaning most is "we've barely met and still i cross the street to your door...!" meaning that she is like obsessed with him..he doesnt even know her... and the part that goes :some day when our stories are told, they'll tell of a love like this.when our descendants are all growing old..." i think this means that she is 100% SURE that he will eventually fall in love with her and they will get married and have kids (their descendants..)

    wat do y'all think?? :D

realizing that a complete stranger was the love of your past life (cross the deepest oceans, cargo across the sea), can be the love of this one, and will definitely be the one in the next (someday when our stories are told, 1000 years, they'll be singing, climb tibetan mtns, etc.): all that person needs to do is touch her (hands on me), and she knows they'll feel that connection, too.

I think this song is about her falling in love with a boy who does not even know she exits. He is a stranger and she is saying .. If you give me a chance (put your hands on me) I can take you anywhere.. cross the deepest oceans! I Love her New Cd .. AMAZING

I love this song to death, even if it's not my favorite off of the new album. I think it's about the wonders of love, about seeing for someone for the first time and knowing that you'll be with them for the rest of your life. "Someday when our stories are told," suggests that their love is so passionate that it's like the love stories that we enjoy so much. It's about being drawn to someone for no particular reason, so much that you're sure it's love.

I don't really understand the song but i like what it says lol,if that makes sense. From what i understand shes falling in love or is in love with a guy and shes basically saying we will do this, "And if you don't believe me,just put your hands on me" idk why but i think feel my heartbeat,im sure she would say feel my heartbeat if thats what she meant, but thats just how i see it.

she wants the guy that she wants to touch her. because it'll mean something to her. and if she really likes him, when he touches her, it makes her feel good. :)

I really love this song, it feels almost like a "missed connection" type of thing.

I believe this song is about bumping into someone and instantly feeling a connection, but you refrain from approaching the person.

She's also daydreaming of all the possibilities of meeting the person again.

I believe, "and if you don't believe me, just put your hands on me" means, if he would just touch her he'd instantly understand her feelings, something that words can never express.

My favorite line: "I know my heart/and it will never change."

i think its kinda about testing the waters. like, i just met you and theres an overwhelming connection we should hang out sometime. Shes already seeing all the things they could be doing in the next 50+ years. if you'd only put your hands on me, you could see all things i see us doing together.

so basically, love at first sight,

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
