"Leave You Traveling" as written by and Jack Antonoff....
You know I've been traveling for a long, long time
I've seen the ends of this world and the cold in your eyes
And if I leave you traveling long way, it is to carry me home

There was this storm and it took my friend
But they found him the next day, he was cold and pretend
And if he leaves me traveling long way, it is to carry home

Then I lost my brother to the bullets of your war
They're gonna bomb your city and the cold wind?ll blow
And if I die before I learn to live, oh he's gonna carry me home

I sent a letter to the woman that I loved
It read, baby, I'm sorry but I'm cold in your arms

And if she leaves me traveling long way, it is to carry her home, oh
And if I leave you traveling, all I know is how to carry me home

General CommentThe line "then I lost my brother to the bullets of your war" makes me wonder if Jack had a brother who died in Iraq. There's a lot about 9/11 on the whole Trampoline album, and so the event must've really had an effect on Jack. Moreso than on typical Americans.

General Commenti definitely agree with you. there's a lot of very consistent themes throughout this album, 9/11 seemingly being one of them

General CommentThis song is so sad. Especially the way he wails some of the lines. I think, for him, the song has specific reasons, but it's nice because anyone can bring personal experiences to the song and get different meanings from it. For me, it's about being left behind by people you love, whether they're moving on to better things, dying, or they're not your friends anymore or something.
