Once knew a girl by the name of Emily
Who I would go and visit on the downtown seat
She promised me love but it didn't come free
And I don't mean money but the way she'd be like

"It makes no sense to me why
You can't just stay with me tonight
You're the apple of my eye"
s... like that so I never went back but

Now they've come to take me away
What have I done to be so afraid
Staring down the barrel of a gun

And lady I don't know you, you don't know me any better
Better listen what I'm sayin, cause this means
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all
Lady tell me the truth, can we trust to the letter?
Better listen what I'm saying, cause this means
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all

Check it
Always known a girl by the name of Christine
Who I've been macking on since the age of 19
She could lead me on like a border collie
But I still keep coming like I hit the ground runnin' sayin'

"I'll do my hair up real fly
I'll wear brand names that you like
You're the apple of my eye"
S... like that but she never called back so

Now they've come to take me away
What have I done to be so afraid
To turn her off like a television

And lady I wanna know you, don't you wanna know me better
Better listen what I'm saying, or is this
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all
Lady I'm telling the truth, trust me to the letter
Better listen to what I'm saying, or is this
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all

Guess it was something I said
That put those thoughts in your head
Guessing you're better off dead
If you can't make me notice

Guess it was something you said
That put those thoughts in my head
Guessing I'm better off dead
If I can't make you notice

All in all the damage is done
Why can't we turn it off and on like a television
Now I'm staring down the barrel of a gun
Because I can't make you notice a reaction

And lady I don't know you, you don't know me any better
Better listen what I sayin' cause this means
Nothing, nothing, nothing at all
Lady tell me the truth can we trust to the letter?
Gotta listen what I'm saying, cause this means
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all

Oh... nothing at all
Oh...

I love when he does Emily's voice! It's not surprising he belts out a mean Jackson 5 cover (although I guess that's with his band Self).

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
