"She's the one" as written by and Daniel Victor Snaith Jeremy Greenspan....
Call her thief, call her shallow and insincere
'Cause you'll never see just how perfect she could be
Then she's gone and my friends could come along
And they tell me that I'm happier
One more fight, yeah, you tell me all the time
How do I swallow my pride?

[Chorus]
But she's the one, she's the one
But she's the one, she's the one

Time and time I hear things that can't be true
And it's only talk 'cause she'll never be so cruel
Every night there's a new name on her mind
That I don't think I recognize
And it's never strange just how long she stays away
I guess I'll have to compromise

Though she's the one, she's the one
But she's the one, she's the one

[Chorus]

General Commentthat makes the most sense. but if it's "strange" then the 'j' sound at the end of the word is clipped, so it sounds more like "straight".

    General Commentthanks for the tip.

this is my current favorite album - it's just so well-constructed, without a hint of pretense. I've never listened to his music before, but it's clear that music is a craft for him, because there's so much thought and skill evident in the composition, recording, production, and everything. This and Strawberry Jam by Animal Collective are the best two albums I've heard in the past few years - creative, exploratory, but FUN to listen to. I find something different to appreciate with every listen. Cheers

General CommentI'm pretty sure that first word has to be "effete."

Plus, if you can't tell by the fact that I'm here proposing lyrics, I think this is another highly entertaining record from Caribou.

General CommentI think the lyrics are:

    "Could her feel?
    Call her shallow, and insincere
'Cause I'll never see just how perfect she could be
Then she's gone and my friends could come along
And they tell me that I'm happier
One more fight; yeah, you tell me all the time
How do I swallow all my pride

    But she's the one
    She's the one
    But she's the one
    She's the one

Time and time I hear things that can't be true
And it's only talk 'cause she'll never be so cruel
Every night there's a new name on her mind
    That I don't think I recognize
And it's never strait just how long she stays away
I guess I have to compromise.

    Though she's the one
    She's the one
    But she's the one
    She's the one".

General CommentI don't know, but it sounds to "call her feeble" to me in the beginning.
