Free my mind
Heal my scars
Erase the past
Dark days to forget
And memories to last
In my heart

Free me now

Make me forget
And forgive
There's no use
To go on and live
Show me a way
To the sun

Heal my scars

Nothing will be forever gone
Memories will stay and find their way
What goes around will come around
Don't deny your fears
So let them go and fade into light
Give up the fight here

Let my eyes take in
The beauty that's here
That's left on this earth
My ears long to hear
A melody

Give me sight

Nothing will be forever gone
Memories will stay and find their way
What goes around will come around
Don't deny your fears
So let them go and fade into light
Give up the fight here

Poison is slowly seeping through my veins
Stealing the only dignity in me

I pick them up and let them fall
To cause your pain and hit them all
[grunts]

One more life to live is what I want

I'll take the joy away from them
See to it, they will all be damned

One more chance to heal what I have harmed

The dragon is wreak havoc in my brain
Plays my emotion, a never ending game

Nothing will be forever gone
Memories will stay and find their way
What goes around will come around
Don't deny your fears
So let them go and fade into light
Give up the fight here

One more life to live for me

I want the night just to color the day
The morning to chase all my nightmares away
Don't you deny that we're all human beings
We all have our flaws that can make ourself obscene

Obscene

Give me what I want
Give me what I need right now
That's what I want
That's what I need, get it!

Dolendo novit mortalis vitam

Tell me what I want
Tell me what I need right now
That's what I want
That's all I need, cure me

Dolendo discit mori mortalis
Losers

Nothing will be forever gone
Memories will stay and find their way
What goes around will come around
Don't deny your fears
So let them go and fade into light
Give up the fight here

General CommentIt's about drug addiction. More specifically, it's about trying to drown out pain and guilt with drugs, only to have it haunt you ever after.

Most of the songs on The Divine Conspiracy deal with some form of human corruption. This is about self destruction.

General CommentI can't believe there are no comments on this song, it's one of the best epica's song.

But I think it's about losing someone and being lost, she doesn't seem to find herself but she knows the memories will stay, no matter what.

I really love this song, it's really beautiful.

General CommentIt sounds to me like she's trying to ensure someone that her drug addiction won't affect anything in her mind badly.

    Nothing will be forever gone
    Memories will stay

General CommentSomehow, I think it's about the book Frankenstein, or some situation similar to it. If you've read the book, you'll agree that there are MANY similarities between the song and the book. I shall remember this song when I'm working on my Frankenstein project!

General CommentI also think its about drugs and the difficult process of rehab.
The music is trying to catch these emotions and reflect them.
I think this song is beautiful one of the best songs of Epica.

General CommentChasing the dragon refers to opium (heroin)...
It mean you want to reach the same "high" as the first time you use it but not being able to.

    Great song with great lyrics!!

General CommentThe drug addiction theme seems to make sense - the song title could be a reference to a method of smoking opium common in Hong Kong's drug dens in the days of the Walled City. Perhaps Epica have read the book by Jackie Pullinger - who knows...

Just throwing some thoughts out there...

General CommentThe whole album is a concept. The character goes through all negative human emotions in the first part of the album:

    the Obsessice Devotion: lust
    Menace of Vanity: vanity
    Chasing the Dragon: addictions
    Never Enough: greed

General CommentActually, I have to disagree with the drug addiction theory. I read the lyrics and it sounds more like just letting go of the past to find redemption. The screaming is about destruction he's brought about, which later wracks him with guilt. But, there's somebody telling him to just let it go while he lays on his death bed.

General CommentActually it is about a drug addiction. The other guy had it completely right, it's about opium (heroin). I didn't think so at first but after you do some research "chasing the dragon" is a term used in prison life, drug dealers were often referred to as dragons, thus if you are searching for a high then you are chasing the dragon. Also, the dragon is was referred as the trail of smoke that is created when you heat up things like opium.

beautiful song, i definitely overplay it on my ipod =]
