"The Year Before the Year 2000" as written by and Syd Butler Tim Harrington....
If you fear, my dear, the end is near,
Please do check your frontal hemisphere.
Bitty chicky thinks the sky will fall.
You should sense I've guessed, it just won't end at all.

It's hard to keep from hoarding when you wake up Monday morning.
In your life with no end in sight; You thought you'd die on Friday night.
Everybody, please keep trying, trying to party like it's 1999.
Even though we've got so much time, we need to spend it like it's 1999.

If you want to close the bar tonight,
Brace yourself 'cause there's no end in sight.
You can't pace yourself and you can't take it slow.
We have to drink it dry before this place is going to close.

It's hard to keep on spending
Every night like your life is ending
When every night there's another there,
Wearing you down in the moonlight's stare.
Everybody, please keep trying, trying to party like it's 1999.
Even though we've got so much time, we need to spend it like it's 1999.

    General Commentonly three comments? weak.

this is one of my favorites off this album. catchy, with a side effect of need to party. I too loathe business days.

General Commentyeah it's about partying all the time but in the second chorus it shows doubts about that sort of lifestyle and if you can keep it up. a lot of people i know who live like that seem sad and empty, maybe a result of partying like it's 1999.

Anyone noticed this is a parody of Prince's 1999? Maybe that's why the title is The year... rather than 1999?

General CommentIt's a rather well-worded way of saying "Whether the end is going to happen soon or not, enjoy life."

Referring to the year 2000, when there was a lot of religious controversy about the rapture. Life was supposed to end, and some believed it, others did not. Either way, have fun and party like the world just might end. Life isn't eternal.

    General CommentAs an added note:

December 31, 1999 was on a Friday night, which refers to the lyric "In your life with no end in sight
You thought you'd die on Friday night"

    Clever guys!
