"Down the Line" as written by and Jose Gonzalez....
I see problems down the line
I know that I’m right
There was a dirt upon your hands
Doing the same mistake twice
Making the same mistake twice

Come on over and be so caught up
It's not about compromising

I see problems down the line
I know that I’m right
I see darkness down the line
I know it's hard to fight

There was a dirt upon your hands
Doing the same mistake twice
Making the same mistake twice

Come on over
Be so caught up, it's all about compromise

I see problems down the line
I know that I’m right

Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up

Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up
Don’t let the darkness eat you up

My InterpretationI feel like he is talking to a friend with this beautiful song. A friend who has been going through a relationship rollercoaster but is still staying in the relationship. He's telling his friend straight up, "i see problems down the line.. making the same mistake twice" He's also there for his friend, he offers company for this friend, to pass those grueling hours of having to be away from a lover the friend has to let go. Don't let the darkness eat you up.

General CommentTo me, this song is about just letting nature take it's course...not forcing things to work/happen...letting things fall into place because eventually they will.

General CommentI can't help but feel that this is a song of sadness, yet, at the same time one of redemption. It's as if he's singing this to a friend/or the listener who is going through a hard time and he's retelling their problems, how they made mistakes, their attempts to solve them and then finally he says to not worry.

It makes me think of when he says,"I see problems down the line, I know that I'm right." He's a person looking ahead and knows things are going bad as if out of experience he's seeing it again and again.

Then when he says,"Doing the same mistake twice..." As if he knows it's that this problem he has to deal with he can't do anything but the same solution which maybe wrong.

The end when he says,"Don't let the darkness eat you up." Is as if he's saying to his friend/listener not to let all the depression and darkness looming over us to take over.

I can't believe how simple the lyrics are yet they are so moving. Every person goes through a darkness and he's singing to us not to let it take over us. I try hard yet fail miserably sometimes this song really does make me feel teary-eyed yet by the end of it I feel strong, happy and most of all less anxious about the future. Great song.

General CommentSuch a beautifully simple song. I think it's about the importance of seeing the world for what it is, instead of seeing it for what you want it to be. Could relate to personal relationships or the world in a broader context (the video for this song supports this idea).

General CommentI think it's about a complicated relationship, or the end of a relationship. You know, those weird weeks when there is "break-up sex" or two people don't love each other anymore but can't break up because they are so used to each other. The reason why i think this is this verse:
    "Come on over
be so caught up its all about compromise."
To me that says to the person to basically ignore the problems "down the line" and do the same wrong again, which is hanging on to a relationship that shouldn't be. And there are almost no reasons to do so anymore, it's just "all about compromise".

General CommentI personally think these are the lyrics...

I see problems down the line
    I know they’re not mine
Wash the dirt upon your hands
    Doing the same mistake twice
    Making the same mistake twice

Come on over don’t be so caught up
    It’s not about compromising.

I see problems down the line
    I know they’re not mine
I see darkness down the line
    I know it’s not fine
Wash the dirt upon your hands
    Doing the same mistake twice
    Making the same mistake twice

Come on over don’t be so caught up
    It’s all about compromising.

I see problems down the line
    I know they’re not mine.

Don’t let the darkness eat you up.
