"Terra Firma" as written by Henry Dartnall, Oliver Askew and Thomas Dartnall....
I took a good long look at everything I bought
There was a lot to see but still I wanted more
It looks like mother nature's got herself a whore
With a disregard for health and safety

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma

A world of wonder lies beyond the door
Take the first right into town where I am sure
I can find the perfect place or something more
In my mind I fly but I'm still seated

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
(Down to)

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma

You don't eat enough
You don't sleep enough
You talk too much
Yes, you talk too much

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
(Down to)

Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
Fake rabbit, real snake
Terra firma, terra firma
(Down to mud)

General CommentResponse to meaning of the song during an interview:

    -------
OLIVER: Being the drummer, the vibe I felt, well - we went through a sort of Gary Numan-esque, Tubeway Army sort of feel in terms of beats. But, lyrically we've decided on the meaning since we've written the track. When we wrote it, we thought this is just gibberish, but the snake is our metaphor for bad drug things and the rabbit is what you want the drug to be. It's a metaphorical thing, which is what we've decided it means.
    -------

In short, it's about being drawn in by the positive aspect of drugs (the rabbit), only to be bitten by the reality of using them (the snake). With this knowledge, the verses make a lot more sense.

Terra Firma is a Latin phrase for "solid earth", a phrase used to differentiate from the sea. This may refer to the reality-check that is taking place; returning to earth with a bump after (at first) enjoying the highs of the experience, ignorant to the negative side.

General CommentI believe this is about women mad about shopping and going out buying fur without the care if its real or fake and telling other women where the best places to go are ( "a world of wonder lies beyond the door
take the first right into town
where I am sure" ) JUST MY OPINION !!

General CommentTerra Firma is a private equity company who launched a hostile buyout of EMI Thorn. This song as against the large corperates. Note, "I took a good long look at everything i'd bought" the company already has bought a good many other companies
