Well, she found a love and he found a victim,
he thought it was strange, she knew it was meant to be.
She wore white and he wore the black suite,
she gave him no lies, she gave her innocense.
From day one it seemed she'd wake up from the day dream,
but irony bleeds, seeing as he was a nightmare.
She'd give him the world, he only had to ask her
but controlling yourself is easier when you're sober.

I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
But the lord hasn't been seen around here in years.

Well, she found a love and he found a life line,
her eyes were jet black, she figured the right time
to leave was approaching and soon she'd be leaving.
The tracks would remind her of wishes for dead leaves
to roll on and on; yeah she'd have to be clever,
she tried once before it ended in bloodshed.
She knows she must run, but has to run faster,
Yeah, she was a princess and he was a bastard.

I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
but the lord has not been seen around here in years.
I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
but the lord has not been seen around here in years.

I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
but the lord has not been seen around here in years.
I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
but the lord has not been seen around here in years.

General CommentI think this song is about a couple who after their honeymoon period had a harsh reality to come to terms with. The man was an alcoholic (She'd give him the world, he only had to ask her, but controlling yourself is easier when you're sober.) And he's an abusive drunk on top of that, hence she would try to leave again like she had in the past but it ended in violence. (She tried once before it ended in bloodshed. She knows she must run, but has to run faster.) And I think the bit (I know this is hard, just have faith in the lord, but the lord has not been seen around here in years) is about possibly her being religious and having faith that the lord would take care of it, but he hasn't and she's still waking up to the same nightmare day in and day out.

General Commenti think the "she was a princess and he was a bastard" line is the pivotal line in this song. i believe its referring to his mother and his father....or some relation of his, im not too sure of the familiar background, but he mentions something in anotherr song about being the only son of a bastard who knows the bastard, too, so, thats why i assume its his mother and father.
....anyways, in a wierd way, this song makes me really kind of love and loathe the woman he is writing about. in my opinion, a lot of people are in relationships where, from my outside opinion, there is someone undeserving of the other. this song illustrates that perfectly. i hope she got out and someone who deserved her met her.

General CommentI seriously think this song was written for me. Of course my interpretation is way off but it applies to me so why not share it!

"Well, she found a love and he found a victim,
he thought it was strange, she knew it was meant to be"
I relate to this because I fell in love with a guy who could never love me. I was just another one of his girls that he would play aka 'victim.'

"She gave him no lies, she gave her innocence*
From day one it seemed she'd wake up from the day dream"
Again, I was stuck in my own little fairy tale and gave away my so called 'innocence' to this boy. I would have given him everything and anything. Hence the line then, "She'd give him the world, he only had to ask her."

"Well, she found a love and he found a life line,
her eyes were jet black, she figured the right time
to leave was approaching and soon she'd be leaving."
I finally saw that I couldn't fix him and I had to leave him if I ever wanted to reclaim my sanity.

"She knows she must run, but has to run faster,
Yeah, she was a princess and he was a bastard."
Funnily enough, he used to call me 'princess' and in the end he was a bastard- hahahaha sorry couldn't resist guys! ;p

"I know this hard - just have faith in the Lord.
but the lord has not been seen around here in years."
Even though I am not religious I can still relate. I think this simply means nothing can save them now and there is no good left between each other.
