"An Artist Prayer" as written by and Donald Carpenter....
So many questions go unanswered
So many times there are things we leave undone
What is the price the ones before us have paid
For the steps that they have laid
Oh will they breathe again?
(through our actions)
Or will they die again
All I, all I ever wanted,
Was a dream to believe in
Will I, ever see the moment
When my, when my dreams come true
Maybe the answers to those same questions
Were right in front of us all along
Written in riddles of timeless prayers,
Hidden in rhymes in the words of timeless songs
Oh will they breathe again?
(through our actions)
Or will they die again

My InterpretationI think this song is expressing the hope that the work done by [musical] artists (including themselves) is remembered through future artists' work and not just a passing phase ("Oh will...die again?").
