I would go
to hell below
if you said your love was there
burning with a devils glare

we're in the age of backwards
the future is unfashioned
you make my heart beat faster
is this love a disaster

I would stay
forever and a day
if you said you'd tell me lies
only truths can make me cry

we're in the age of backwards
the future is unfashioned
you make my heart beat faster
is this love a disaster

I would leave
if you promised me
I'll be safer in the dark
you were the light inside my heart

we're in the age of backwards
the future is unfashioned
you make my heart beat faster
is this love a disaster

we're in this age of backwards
you're callin' me old-fashioned
you make my heart beat faster ("i don't know" in background)
is this love a disaster

General Commenti always thought it was "the future is old-fashioned," which makes sense with the backwards theme of the song.

but anyway, i think it's about being in a relationship that either has already failed or is destined to fail, but you don't want to admit it. so instead, you start believing the opposite of what's right in front of you hence "the age of backwards."

i wish more people would comment on this song. i love it.
