"Snakeskin" as written by Elliot John Gleave, Andy Sheldrake and Edmundo Keeley....
Hang up the phone, no need to cry
I?ll take you home, it'll be alright
Tonight means nothing if we stay

Staying here will only breed obsession
And I'm already obsessed
If everything you see is your possession
Then I'm already possessed

Careful kid, this is not your song
Although it could be before too long

Before too long, a lesson learned
To stand downwind and watch it burn
To the lake, wash away any trace of yesterday

I?ll take you home, it'll be alright
Tonight means nothing if we stay
The night means nothing

Staying here will only breed obsession
And I'm already obsessed
If everything you see is your possession
Then I'm already possessed

Careful kid, this is not your song
Although it could be before too long

Had you ever thought of waking up?
Undercover, never letting up?

Tonight means nothing if we stay
The night means nothing

Staying here will only breed obsession
And I'm already obsessed
If everything you see is your possession
Then I'm already possessed

Careful kid, this is not your song
Although it could be before too long

Before too long, a lesson learned
To stand downwind and watch it burn
To the lake, wash away any trace of yesterday

Had you ever thought of waking up?
Undercover, never letting up?

General Commenti dont know, i think its about a one night stand which is a mistake, unrequited love and such. She feels upset by what they have done and he comforts her by telling her that he is ok with whatever she wants to do; but he still loves her, "i'll take you home" but "tonight means nothing if we stay". Later he realises that his lesson is that he should love her from afar as she doesnt feel the same, "stand downwind and watch it burn"
as for the "careful kid" section, i think its him saying that if he stays, she will feel the same.

General CommentI don't think it's about a one night stand. I think it's about a man who has committed a crime in a rough neighbourhood and a young kid has witnessed it, and his warning to the kid. Essentially a comment on the sad state of many young lives in urban Australia is that a lot of kids are born into environments where crime is the norm, and I think that's what this is about...

Hang up the phone, no need to cry.
I’ll take you home, it’ll be alright.
Tonight means nothing if we stay.

He's addressing the witness, who is calling the cops. He's saying "I'm not going to hurt you, it's all right...no need to tell anyone"

Staying here will only breed obsession, and I’m already obsessed.
If everything you see is your possession, then I’m already possessed.

He's addicted to the thrill of the crimes he commits...he's possessed by the adrenaline rush and the need, for whatever reason, to do what he does

Careful kid - this is not your song, although it could be before too long.

He's saying "Look out for yourself. It's too late for me (ie this is his song) but you can still get out

Before too long, a lesson learned; to stand downwind and watch it burn,
To the lake, wash away any trace of yesterday.

The lesson learned is to keep to yourself. A predator will be hard pressed to smell prey that is downwind, it's essentially invisible. Pretty much he's saying "Kid, you look after yourself, keep out of trouble". The lake is where he washes away the evidence...be that a murder weapon or whatever

I’ll take you home, it’ll be alright.
Tonight means nothing if we stay.
    The night means nothing.

If they stay and get caught, the message means nothing for the kid...he's caught up in it now

Had you ever thought of waking up?
    Undercover, never letting up?

"Think about it...have you ever thought about how life would be on the run? Never able to see anyone you knew, never able to rest"

General Commenti was listening to an interview on radio the other day where they asked the meaning of this song and it is about the lead singers obsession with the band, and how he can only obsess over making it the best he can

General CommentAlthough apparently it had already been answered by Phat Gibbo, I think the closest meaning that can come from this song would be around the "one night stand" theme talked previously.

The criminal environment one was just stupid and honestly, beside this meaning there can't be any other beside the real one answered in their interview.

    I mean come on

The CD cover has a smoking chick on it already and with the title "BREED obsession" you're gonna think otherwise?

"Tonight means nothing if we stay
    Tonight means nothing"

    Nuff said.
