Me and my guitar play my way
It makes them frown
The little pieces by the highway
Bring me down

Mine is not a heart of a stone
I am only skin and bone
Those little pieces are little pieces of my own

Why don't you give me some love
I've taken a shit load of drugs
I'm so tired of never fixing the pain
Valium said to me
I'll take you seriously
And we'll come back as someone else
Who's better than yourself

Many faces at the doorway
All hang around
Watch me fight in the hallway
But make no sound
So standing all alone
And I'm only skin and bone and
So many faces but they all look out for their own

Why don't you give me some love
I've taken a shit load of drugs
I'm so tired of never fixing the pain
Valium said to me I'll take you seriously
And we'll come back as someone else
Who's better than yourself

Why don't you give me some love
I've taken shit load of drugs
I'm so tired of never fixing the pain
Valium said to me I'll take you seriously
And we'll come back as someone else
Who's better than yourself today

And someday soon they'll drop the bomb
And let it all out someday
I know that someday soon we'll all be gone
So let it all out
Let it all out today

And give me some love, yeah give me some love
Come give me some love, today

No, I agree with the depression hypothesis. If he was referring to drugs of abuse he would have used something other than Valium. Think of a confused and lonely teenager (adults go through it too, but it's easier to visualize an adolescent) who wants to be understood and loved for who he/she is, but all anyone else cares about is their own comfort level. "Take some Valium" they say, "we like you better when you're on psychotropics because you're a different person, better." But they don't understand, nor do they care, that the drugs don't stop the pain.

Heaven forbid the "drop the bomb" reference be predicting another campus/workplace shooting. That seems a little violent for Blunt's imagination, but who knows.

It's about doing things your own way so you're never accepted by everyone else. It's about having people sit around watching you struggle with your addictions, your heartaches and your problems, but no one ever puts out a hand or says a word that might help. So then, maybe you turn to a drug for assistance because it can make you someone you're not, possibly someone everybody else will prefer. Yet through it all, you're still screaming out for love from someone who will just take you as you are.

Hmm. I actually think this song is about Depression.

"Why don't you give me some love? I've taken ship loads of drugs I'm so tired of never fixing the pain"

The give me some love bit is about people cutting you a bit of slack, not putting preassure on you all the time. The drugs dont neccessarily have to be illegal or whatever, they could be prescribed anti-depressents, which then is shown in the next line about its only valium (relaxing drug) which 'helps'

The first verse about his own way is often a sign of depression aswell, believing you're different to all the others. The second verse about lonliness is obviously a sign towards it aswell.

All these things add up rather well, which is why i think it's about depression.

This song is hot. Give me some love reminds me of something very naughty, and the shitload of drugs part comes of as sexy to me. It's like give me some love already! DAMN!

    Yeah, I'm sick.

I think this song is obviously about drug addictions, and how alone and isolated you can feel.

"Many faces at the doorway all hang round Watch me fighting in the hallway but make no sound So I'm standing all alone and I'm only skin and bone So many faces but they just look out for their own"

and about how people take drugs to escape, mask their feelings, not have to deal with them, feel better about everything ect.

"Valium said to me, I'll take you seriously And we'll come back as someone else".

    amazing song. reallly

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
