Tell you that the world is never gonna end
Don't open your eyes to them I can
[x2]

So we all strive to do the best we can
Clouding their eyes with ivory lies
Build a safe haven from their whats and whys
We shelter their minds with ivory lies
At some point, they figure out...

Oh, with so much going on lyings my disguise
So innocent and sweet, thats what I adore
So much going on
I don't think your ready for

Oh lyings my disguise
What you don't know-What you don't know
Can't hurt you

You can't regret the choices you've made
The choices you've made
Life is in you today-When you make your tomorrow
Why? Why the White Lies?

Oh, so much going on lyings my disguise
So innocent and sweet, thats what I adore
So much going on
I don't think your ready for

Oh, lyings my disguise
What you don't know-What you don't know
Can't hurt you

You cry white lies

Oh, so much going on lyings my disguise
So innocent and sweet, thats what I adore
So much going on
I don't think your ready for

Oh, lyings my disguise
What you don't know-What you don't know
Can't hurt you

So we all strive to do the best we can
Clouding their eyes with ivory lies
Build a safe haven from their whats and whys
We shelter their minds with ivory lies
At some point. they figure out...

General Commentwhy has no one commented on this song? its amazing.
about the government telling lies to cover things they dont want the public to know?
or maybe on a smaller scale, he's in a relationship and his girl cheats on him and lies about it?

General CommentI just think this is about someone who lies to prevent people from being hurt but then the lies escalate to something more and then everyone finds out about his dishonesty.

General CommentWow what an awesome song. It sounds so pretty and has meaningful lyrics.
I believe its about how parents shelter their children when they are very young and make them believe the world is so happy and peaceful because they believe their children aren't ready to know the truth. And then when they grow up they realize its not true anymore.

General CommentI indeed love this song, and I got totally the same idea as rainraingoaway. At first I pictured a father and his daughter, and he is telling her lies about the world, kinda like how small children are made to believe the world is so innocent, but in reality it's not at all and "at some point, they figure out".

General CommentI really freaking love this song because it holds a very deep meaning to me because I do tell these "white lies" to protect ones I love.
To me this song is about hiding something from anything or anyone. You tell these white lies to feel like you're protecting yourself and others until someone figures your lies out. The line "Build a safe haven from their what's and why's, we shelter their minds with ivory lies" to me means you've built your own safe space by lying where only you know the truth and you blind everyone by telling these white lies. The chorus "Oh, so much going on lying's my disguise, so innocent and sweet, thats what I adore, so much going on I don't think you're ready for" to me means you've made people around you become naive and not question your lies, and you like it that way. There's so many heavy things in your life and you don't think people can handle what you're going through. "What you don't know can't hurt you" means protecting everyone from knowing the truth and being hurt. I especially love the ending line "At some point, they figure out..." because I think it applies to everyone that you can't keep running and living in your white lies forever because eventually, someone will figure something out.
But that's just my interpretation ;]
