A pen ends a note
Is this all that I have earned?
The words you wrote are from lessons
You've unlearned about who you are inside.
What are you trying to hide?
Cause I can see through you so clearly.

Now you're standing at the edge
Of breaking new ground.
There's so much in your head
Before you hit the ground.
Just wave goodbye
To everyone you thought you knew
Just wave goodbye
To everything that's keeping you alive
Keeping you alive
Just say goodbye
Say goodbye

Before you choke.

Girl the time has come
To make all your wishes
And burn, burn, burn, burn, burn all your bridges.
And hope they remember you,
As something more than just a failure.
Something more than a lock without it's key
Cause that was me.

Now you're standing at the edge
Of breaking new ground.
There's so much in your head
Before you hit the ground.
Just wave goodbye
To everyone you thought you knew
Just wave goodbye
To everything that's keeping you alive
Keeping you alive
Just say goodbye.

Think twice, think twice, think twice
Don't say goodbye.
Think twice, think twice
Just clear your mind
Think twice, think twice,
Think twice for me this time.

Just wave goodbye
To everyone you thought you knew
Just wave goodbye
To everything that's keeping you alive.
Keeping you alive.
Just say goodbye.
Say goodbye
Goodbye

its about a girl commiting suicide by jumping.

A pen ends a note Is this all that I have earned? The words you wrote are from lessons You've unlearned about who you are inside. What are you trying to hide? 'Cause I can see through you so clearly.

he found her suicide note and is asking her why

Girl the time has come to make all your wishes And burn, burn, burn, burn, burn all your bridges. And hope they remember you, as something more than just a failure. Something more than a lock without it's key 'Cause that was me.

hes saying hes this isnt the way to get attention and he has been there before

Think twice, think twice, think twice Don't say goodbye. Think twice, think twice Just clear your mind Think twice, think twice, Think twice for me this time.

Exatly, I think it's about a girl committing suicide as well.

"A pen ends a note Is this all that I have earned? The words you wrote are from lessons You've unlearned about who you are inside." The pen ending the 'note' is obviously the suicide letter that the girl had written to the guy. He is upset because he thinks he is owed more than just a petty note from the girl, because he probably felt like he meant more to her than that and that he deserved more. The part where he says 'The words that you wrote from lessons you've unlearned' I think that means like, the girl didn't really get to have any real life experiences and without having any life experiences she really doesn't know what she's going to be missing out on and she doesn't realise that she could eventually get over this and learn from it in the future, which will make it a 'lesson learned'

"Now you're standing at the edge of breaking new ground. There's so much in your head before you hit the ground. Just wave goodbye" Obviously about a girl jumping to her death. 'There's so much in her head' that's probably conflicting emotion and her second-guessing the decision.

"Think twice, think twice, think twice Don't say goodbye. Think twice, think twice Just clear your mind Think twice, think twice, Think twice for me this time." And that's the guy pleading with her. Telling her to think again, in the hopes she'll change her mind, and she can start to put things into perspective and to think more clearly about what she's about to do. He's pleading and begging for her to change her mind because she means so much to him and he doesn't want her to end her life.

My interpretation but that's pretty much how I see the song. The meaning is pretty obvious, but I like this song a lot.

Wow, 4 comments? I was expecting tons of them. I can relate to this. I went through a period like the girl in this. I was majorly depressed. My best guy friend is the one who talked me out of it. I'm damn glad he did, we're dating and he saved my life. I just hope that if he ever needs me, I'll be able to help him like he helped me. He's my life, and I'm glad I listened to him, and didn't do what I planned on doing. I'm glad he found me, and told me what he thought of me, and gave me a new perspective on life, and how much I would miss out on, and how many people would miss me, and blame themselves. Suicide isn't a joke, believe me.

Part of it sounds like a suicide note & part of it sounds like she is breaking up with him in a letter when he says is this all I have earned. Not too sure about this one, but I have to say that I love this CD.

This is about a girl he holds dear commiting suicide. The first parts are about how she was stronger than that, if she would have calmed now. He also says that the people she's leaving behind(him) deserved way more than an explanation of why she did it, they deserved her to live for them. And then he's mentioning how she'll be gone and they will be left to live without her. He tells her that if she does it it will be the defining factor of her life. When people think about her it will always be attached. Finally he mentions he was there, and that it is possible to live past the hurt/confusion/depression she has been carrying around with her. The entire song he's trying to talk her out of it. All of the "wave goodbyes" are saying that if she does this the love people hold for her will be replaced by missory because of her not being there and choosing to leave the. Finally he tells her that it's a choice, and she needs to calm down. And if she wont live for her, he wants more than anything for her to live for the people who love her. Especially him. Now he presents the situation she is in, reinforcing that if she does this she'll be hurting everyone close to her.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
