"Shooting Stars" as written by Angie Aparo, Pete Riley and Edwin Cole Mc Cain....
We keep our love in a plain brown box
We keep it tied with a simple lock
We hold it close 'cause it's all we got
We think it's ordinary but it's not

In a world that's starting to fade
A little love could pave the way
Don't keep it tied with the simple lock
You think it's ordinary but it's not

Maybe this life is just about love and tenderness
If all we are are shooting stars
Maybe we, we can fight
All of this pain and loneliness
If all we are are shooting stars

Tired of hearing 'bout the bling-bling
We're so concered with material things
It's all cars and diamond rings
And do you think it's gonna to ease your sting

Cause that's a hole that you can't fill
Velvet rope overkill
Free your mind let your heart sing
And just remember that they're only things

Maybe this life is just about love and tenderness
If all we are are shooting stars
Maybe we, we can fight
All of this pain and loneliness
If all we are are shooting stars

I used to live by the minute
I was too blind to see
Now I've found the strength to admit it
Now it's all I believe
Please

Maybe this life is just about love and tenderness
If all we are are shooting stars
Maybe we, we can fight
All of this pain and loneliness
If all we are are shooting stars

General CommentSuch an underrated Edwin McCain song. In my opinion this should stand up there with "I'll Be" & "I Could Not Ask For More".

It's basically Just Edwin's commentary on the world of today and the seeming lack of love in it.
We are hiding our love (for anyone or anything) because we think it's inadequate by itself.
Instead we get caught up in trying to express our love through material things, but as he says in the song "just remember that they're only things."
He argues that THE most important thing in our lives should be the love we feel for others, and the love we get from others. If more people realized this, the world would be a better place.

Anyways, like I said that's just my opinion. But hopefully that'll get a discussion started on this song, because it's one of my favorites and I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves.

General CommentI can't believe your the only who commented on this beautiful song ChaChing2308. i think you're mostly right, except i also think it goes farther as in to say that we as people don't care about REAL issues, just our superficial problems. the line "all we are is shooting stars" might refer to the way that shootings stars don't do anything for our lives other than look pretty and give us a make-believe something to believe in... something not real.
