Do you see me sitting here?
I'm waiting for you to say anything
Head hung low, kicking stones down
Kicking stones down the road to hell now
I'm waiting for you to say anything, anything, yeah

I know you are the only one
My little taste of heaven
You know I am the only one
Your bitter taste of hell

Your eyes scream the end is creeping in
I'll need thirty-seven stitches to keep the pain in
I know you are the only one
On the darkest side of the sun
On the darkest side of the sun, ooh yeah

Followed the piper's sweet whistling
Guided down the path by the wrong hand
Close my eyes for the chance of a better view
Close my ears so I couldn't hear you

And I know you are the one
And you know I am the one
Your bitter taste of hell

I know you are the only one
A little taste of heaven
And you know I am the only one
Your bitter taste of hell

Your eyes scream the end is creeping in
I'll need thirty-seven stitches, to keep the pain in
I know you are the only one
On the darkest side of the sun

Do you see me sitting here?
Still waiting for you to say anything
Head hung low kicking stones down
Kicking stones down the road to hell now
I'm waiting for you, I'm waiting for you, just say anything, yeah

I know you are the only one
A little taste of heaven
And you know I am the only one
Your bitter taste of hell

Your eyes scream the end is creeping in
I'll need thirty-seven stitches, thirty-seven stitches, yeah
I know you are the only one
On the darkest side of the sun

I know, I know, the darkest side of the sun
You are the one on the darkest side of the sun

My interpretation of 37 stitches is from the view of a an idividual, who can really say if it is man, woman or child, has disappointed another individual. But as it does seem, I would think it is a man in a relationship with a woman, and it very well could be the act of infidelity that has occurred. For whatever the situation is he knows he has wronged someone very important to him. Have you ever just walked along somberly and kind of drag and kick your feet? With your head hung? The main character is expecting to be in trouble. he is wanting her to say something, anything. he has hurt her and he KNOWS it and he knows the end is here and there is no need to fight. She was his taste of heaven and ultimately the wrong doing that was committed was her hell. I am thinking that the sweet whistle of the piper was the temptation involved, another woman perhaps is the wrong hand that was guiding? His head is hung low in shame. Because there is no proof of a "dark side of the sun" , he realizes that she is the one and he has blown it. forever. He has lost someone and it is what it is...OVER.

This song is about how the guy feels that he has the best girl..she is just his "little taste of heaven" and he feels incredibly lucky. But for her, he feels he is just a loser almost. "the bitter taste of hell". and he is waiting for her to eventually see this too and for her to leave him. "im waiting for you to say anything" NIce song by the way!

I'm not sure what significance the number 37 has in this song or if it was just a randomly picked number, but I think this song is about a relationship in which he thinks the girl is his own slice of heaven but he's just hell for her, and he knows she's one of a kind (only one on the darkest side of the sun). Maybe 37 is how many stitches it takes in a heart surgery, and it's a reference to having a broken heart, but I'm not sure.

I know that when Ryan, the lead singer, was in SOiL, he did a lot of songs about love. This has a similar meaning to a lot of their songs. I agree on mayfield about the song's meaning. I also have no clue about the 37 stitches thing.

I think I know where they got the title "37 Stitches" from. This may sound weird when you look at the band, but I was flipping through the channels today and saw the movie Beethoven on (yeah, that movie about the dog). Whenever the dad is at the Vet's office talking to him, the Vet says it took 37 stitches to fix his arm wound. As soon as I heard the phrase "37 stitches" my ears perked up and I had to come here just to mention that lol

I think of this song as drug abuse where the girl is the a drug and its like heaven when you use it to take all the pain away and the sober times is hell ya know

I think the lyrics posted may be off by a few words. "Your eyes scream the end is creeping end" I believe he says "Your eyes scream the end is creeping in on me" and the other one is... "Plug my ears so i couldn't hear you," while this line makes more sense. I believe he actually says "Close my ears so I couldn't hear you." Either way... This song is great. Just saw Drowning Pool on the Cruefest 2 tour. Their show was awesome from beginning to end.

    My Interpretation

Some old school typical Drowning Pool high energy music. But then you got some more mainstream Alice In Chains acoustic rock <3

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
