Twenty-five, a season off dope
Three sheets to the wind like a clothesline rope
He's a spider on the web
She was a tiny woman, heap of sins
Her developing body was just the beginning

She said, "Is anybody out there?"
She was bruised like a cherry, ripe as a peach
How could he have known that she was only fifteen?
She came to him like a tick on the noose
Little blue-eyed soul for his black and blues
It's a new move for the likes of me
Our skin is like grass, let's smoke it real fast
Is anybody out there?

He was deep like a graveyard, wired like TV
And how could he have known
That she'd be down for almost anything?
She was only, only, only fifteen
My oh my, you pretty thing
It's about that time for us to meet
Does your daddy have a shotgun?

He was deep like a graveyard
She was ripe as a peach
And how could he have known that she was only fifteen?
She was only, only, only fifteen
Well she was only, only, only fifteen

General CommentI could be wrong, but I really deeply feel like it's not as literal as everyone is taking it. I think when she sings "how could he have know..." it's actually cynical and sarcastic. Like obviously he knows she's way too young for him, but he chooses to do it anyway. Not thinking about the girl and not even caring about the trouble he might get himself into. And in phrasing it the way she does, i think it's much more scathing. how could he know? i mean, after all her body was developing. it just comes off to me like she's saying, "what a fucking loser." and i really like this. it almost makes me ashamed of my gender.

General CommentI love the metaphor of "our skin is like grass so let's smoke it real fast." It's so amazing.

General Commenti saw them in chicago tonight

    everyone started laughing.

"this song is about two people who like to get it on.."

General CommentI always though it was "25, seasoned adult..." As in he is a seasoned adult relationship wise while she is only 15.

General CommentI'd venture to say this song is about a man flirting with a young girl on the internet. He's a pervert and she's young and willing, but he doesn't know she's only fifteen.

General Commenti do not understand the metaphor of "our skin is like grass so let's smoke it real fast". i'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean, hah. but i'd def agree with punkybreester that it's about an internet pedophile ("he's a spider on the web"), and that this girl is so jaded that he couldn't know she was only 15.

General CommentThis is about, to me, two very damaged people finding each other, in a destructive way. The girl is 15, but the guy doesn't realize it because she already seems jaded, though he knows she's young. I imagine that the girl has been abused in the past.

My favorite line? "Does your daddy have a shotgun?" Hee.

General CommentI know this isn't relevant to the song or anything, but I was in this same exact situation I was 15 and he was 26. This song is completely cynical towards him, she's basically saying 'you're a total fucking loser preying on girls that don't know right from left and will believe anything'. Oh my god, I love this song.
