"Waiting" as written by Assunta Maria Christie, Francis Peter J Exon and Glenn Alan Rock Marshall....
Once alone and too afraid of strangers knocking on my door and
Well you came in I knew you'd win
I was sitting on the front porch swinging
And waiting

I tried walking with you in mind
But looking down saw my feet were tied
Got to thinking that how easy it could be
But then the fear and the chains became a part of me
And waiting

[Chorus]
Always waiting
For my ride to pick me up on my time
Seems I'm staying
As the others cross the finish lines
I could break into day I could set into speed
But to tell you the truth I'm always waiting
Always waiting

Caged in like the beautiful view
And I was waiting for the night when I could soar with you
But when you picked me up released me to fly
I found I couldn't hold my own wings dry
And waiting

[Chorus]

Don't want to fly

[Chorus]

Always we must find our ways
Always
All I could do was drive away
Always

General CommentOnce alone and too afraid
    Of strangers knocking my door
    And well, you came in
    I knew you'd win
But I was sitting on the front porch swinging
    And waiting...

I tried walking with you in mind
But looking down I saw my feet were tied
I took to thinking 'bout how easy it could be
But then the fear and chains became a part of me
    And waiting...

    Always waiting
For my right to pick it up
    And my time
    Seems I'm staying
As the others crossed finish lines
I could break with the day
I could set in to speed
But to tell you the truth, I'm always waiting
    Always waiting...

Caged in with a beautiful view
And I was waiting for the night
When I could soar with you
But when you pick me up, release me to fly
I found that I could not always try
    And waiting...

    Always waiting
For my right to pick it up
    And my time
    Seems I'm staying
As the others crossed finish lines
I could break with the day
I could set in to speed
But to tell you the truth, I'm always waiting
    Always waiting...

    Always waiting
    For my right
    Please pick me up tonight
    I can't stay here
I know I can see my finish lines
    I'll break with the day
I could set in to speed
    Are you driving away?
    Are you driving to me?
To tell you the truth, I'm always waiting
    Always waiting...

All we did was find our own ways
    Always...
All I can do is drive away
    Always...

    ==========
    That's my best attempt...

I was sitting on the front porch swinging
    And waiting

I tried walking with you in mind
Looking down saw my feet were tied
Got to thinking how easy it would be
Within the fear and the chains being a part of me
    And I'm waiting

    Always waiting
For my ride to pick me up
    On my time
    Seems I'm staying

And when you pick me up release me to fly
If I had only kept my own wings dry
    I'm waiting

    Always waiting
For my ride to pick me up

    On my time
    Seems I'm staying
As the others cross finish lines
I could break with the day
    I could set into speed
But to tell you the truth
    I'm always waiting
    Always waiting

    (Don't wanna fly...)

    Always waiting
For my ride please pick me up
    Tonight
    I can't stay here
I know I can see the finish line
So I break with the day
    And set into speed
    But I'm driving away
    Are you driving to me
To tell you the truth I'm always waiting
    Always

Always we must find our ways (da da da)

    Always (da da da)
All I could do was drive away

    Always (da da da)

General CommentI'm sorry, but no matter how many times I hear this song I can't hear them saying "don't want to fly". It definitely sounds like "don't want to die." The lyrics also make a little bit of sense if you interpret them as being about God and death.

I hate how people will butcher the lyrics because they go by what they THINK they hear, not by the actual lyric books. And this is in no way about death or God. Mae is not a christain band, they may have signed with Tooth and Nails but that is because they got an offer so they took it. It is just a way for Tooth and Nails to make money off of the people who listen to music about God. And don't get me wrong, I am a Christain, but in no way are their songs about God.

Anyway, in my opinion, it seems to be about how he is always waiting for something to happen with a person who he has feelings for instead of actually trying to get them to fall for him, if that even made any sense.
