Verse 1:
What is angst?
Is angst the face that we make when we’re faced with mistakes,
And the breaks in the path leave us shaking with wrath,
And the math doesn’t add up to achievement.
I see fit to rip my ambitions to pieces,
With eagerness, let it all get to my head,
I break youthful spirit like Jesus broke bread.
I’m a dead man, if judging by the contents
Of my bed pan, that shits nasty,
An intense stench that causes
My attendants to impassively walk
Right past me, with tears in their eyes,
Like they couldn’t handle a quick glance
At my upturned insides.

Chorus:
Stop now son, looks like you’ve done it again,
Blocked out suns, alienated your friends,
Set the tables, then you turn ‘em,
Build bridges, then you burn ‘em
You’d like to make ends meet, than lets meet ends.

Verse 2:
My parents wish I would get off my lazy ass sometimes,
Some people wish I were a little more on task sometimes,
But I’m effortlessly indifferent,
Endlessly proficient,
With a tongue resembling a loaded gun,
And tons of ammunition.
Time wasting, clock puncher,
Mind racing, cock muncher,
Couch potato with a new layer of freshly peeled skin,
I could get up, but that’d mean letting the real world win.
And they’re all fucked up,
Suit and tie wearing apes,
Sipping coffee as they wake,
With shock and disgust that they fake
On their face when they see
Another murder or rape in the paper.
Oh god! Never seen that one before,
I need something new to lament
Cyclically cynical, sickly sickle cells
Prototypical, unspoken desires
Beneath messages subliminal.

Chorus:
Stop now son, looks like you’ve done it again,
Blocked out suns, alienated your friends,
Set the tables, then you turn ‘em,
Build bridges, then you burn ‘em
You’d like to make ends meet, than lets meet ends.

Verse 3

Parents just wanting me to work not giving a fuck
just telling me to get out the house and do something
not giving fuck just saying ur to lazy u
need to do something with ur life
and i am but i say ur right i am a lazy ass
but im awaiting the end for all this bullshit to
be over and us in the soil six feet under just wonderin
what the fuck did i do with my life and i realize
that i was just a nother mother fucker
thats on the path of enlightenment
we dont want the real world to end
if it doesnt end now ill realize that ive been a lazy
fuck all my life and people will just see me as a fuck up
but im not im just an insect looking to grow
into something that im told to be
thats not me im just going to live life and when it
ends ill be ready seige the darkness

Chorus:
Stop now son, looks like you’ve done it again,
Blocked out suns, alienated your friends,
Set the tables, then you turn ‘em,
Build bridges, then you burn ‘em
You’d like to make ends meet, than lets meet ends.

Verse 4:
mouth agape, eyes locked straight
everyone telling me im as lazy as a fatass ape.
its 4 oclock and i just woke up
dont wanna get out of bed,
dont wanna take bus
to the land of opportunity and the place of desire
fuck you bitch, i dont wanna get hired
at some job where i all i do is get pushed and beat
i just wanna stay at home and jerk my own meat
if you know what i mean
ha ha, real funny, a clever pun
most productive thing i have done since ive seen the sun
because of
another day wasted,
another bit of agnst tasted
another click of the remote to leave me brainless
another look of dr phil or some other piece of shit
where all they say is do this and this
well ill do that if you insist,
wait, fuck you i aint no bitch.
call it my own form of rebellion if you must
like che chevera, ghandi or saint augustus
in conclusion i just got one last thing to say
fuck you bitches, this is how i spend my days

Chorus:
Stop now son, looks like you’ve done it again,
Blocked out suns, alienated your friends,
Set the tables, then you turn ‘em,
Build bridges, then you burn ‘em
You’d like to make ends meet, than lets meet ends

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
