"Shrink Wrap" as written by Charles Hayward, Gareth Williams and Charles Bullen....
shrinkwrap, you lie, you lie, you lie

wolf in sheep's clothing
enshrine our latest product
define the hollow spaces
mobilised cellophane
untouched by human hand

don't look a gift horse in the mouth
don't bite the hand that feeds you
you can have your cake and eat it

it's an expanding universe

General Comment"untouched by human hands"...the irony, that anyone would present such a horrific state as something desirable

when I first heard this song, I was working a temp. job in a factory, shrinkwrapping computer manuals. in relatively small numbers. these little manually-operated machines would emit all kinds of crap into the air after they burned the plastic tight around the packages. you couldn't breathe.

the bosses AND the permanent workers treated you well (which is almost unheard of, for temps). we were well paid, also. a well-paid, polite hell.

General CommentThe hollow, artificial nature of things. The garbage we're given as gospel. Everything as product, clean and shrinkwrapped.

    Very disturbing, very short song.
