"Rise Today" as written by Myles Kennedy and Mark / Tremonti....
The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

Feels like we're all alone
Running further from what's right
And there are no more heroes to follow

So what are we becoming?
Where did we go wrong?

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
Oh, won't you rise today
And change this world?

The sun is beating down
Are we ever gonna change
Can we stop the blood from running?

Our time is running out
Hope we find a better way
Before we find we're left with nothing

For every life that's taken
So much love is wasted

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
So won't you rise today
And change

This world
Only love can set it right
This world
If only peace would never die

Seems to me that we've got each other wrong
Was the enemy just your brother all along?

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
Oh won't you rise today
And change this world?

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

Yeah, oh yeah
I want to rise today
And change this world

General Commentstraight from mark tremonti's mouth:

"It's more of a, you know, let's check ourselves and see if we can do something better for any given situation, 'cause the world seems to be kind of getting to be a tough place, and people need to start changing a little bit or else we're gonna end up...who knows what's gonna happen with the world."

General CommentThis is Alter Bridge's way of saying that we(The US) need to get out of the Middle East and let them solve their problems themselves.

General CommentI don't think the song is about Iraq. I think you are just interpreting it into a way that will fit your views, which I guess most people do about most things. If it was about Iraq I think Alter Bridge would have more political songs that just this. I think it's just about making the world a better place. The band is challenging us to fix the wrongs of the world whenever we see injustice happening. The beginning of the song sounds like they're trying to say that society has turned a blind eye to everything bad that's happening and they think people should see what's really going on and fix it. You can probably take this to mean "stop the war in Iraq" if you believe the war is wrong. "Rise today and change this world." I think it's bigger than the U.S. and Iraq. It's about the world. Maybe you are forgetting that we are not the world.

If it's rise today and change this world, then why would we get out of the Middle East? Then we wouldn't be changing anything. Again, I don't think it's about politics. It's just a general "let's fix the bad things" kind of song. It's still good though.

General Commentwith all the shit is happening in the world. the song inspires us to take a step back and to see what lies ahead of the situation and not the situation itself. we all need to ponder and think despite all the negativity around us, it's better to resort is a peaceful manner instead of chaos and violence.

General Commentim totally agree with pmac52188. this song exactly shows that stop the war against muslims.

    "Feels like were all alone
Running further from what’s right "

    meaning
vocalist says that it feels like this world is only for us (americans) n we (americans) r ignoring whats right.

    "So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

    meaning
he is asking r we killers.? n whats wrong with us?.

    "Yeah
    Yeah
I want to rise today and change this world"

    meaning
he is talking to himself that yes i should rise today n help them who r dying without any reason.

    "Are we ever gonna change
Can we stop the blood from running?"

    meaning
he is asking ( US govenment)that will u ever be changed or will u stay like what u r?. can we (americans) stop killing innocents.

    "Our time is running out
Hope we find a better way
Before we find we’re left with nothing "

    meaning
he knows that every1 has to die. n asking that can we hope for some peace now. n can we stop now before we find that we got nothing while killing our own brothers.

"Seems to me that we’ve got each other wrong
Was the enemy just your brother all along? "

    meaning
the vocalist further says that we (americans) got them (muslims) wrong but the truth is they were , they are our brothers all along.

its crystall clear massage for stoping war n stop killing people without any reason.(maybe for oil)

i think thats why the band didnt make a true video storycal video for this song.
they made a video for this song for just showing passion n love for the music but the truth is something else.

NOTHING PERSONAL AGAINST AMERICANS BUT THE TRUTH IS TRUTH. AND THIS SONG SHOWS SOME TRUTH.

General CommentWow, this song is amazing. I believe that it is about becoming a hero. Someone who is a champion. Everytime I see a fire truck I think of peace. I think about this golfer from my high school, actually... I think I saw him recently when I was driving around... I read the back of his car and it startled me a little bit, I was following a little too closely and ran a stop sign... Probably a bad idea. It made me want to stand up for myself and my beliefes... I am still trying to figure it all out, but eventually I'll get things right. In the end I know that I will come out on top. If I ever publish a book I'm going to donate all the proceeds to charity.
