"Temptation come my way" as written by Travis Dean Bailey, David Edison Bunton, Joshua Michael Childers and Eric Allan Koruschak....
I’m torn
And ripped in temptations wake
I’ve lived
Half a life I’m desires slave
Of love
And of lust and of life he speaks
In thrall
I’m the victim until it sleeps
I’m bound
To this medusa blind or stone
I’m held
At the mercy of the unknown
Can’t shake
The black hearted, still I roam
Can’t change
How it started, the beast comes home

You choke like smoke
And define like a stain
You reign and the flood
Washes all but my name away
Temptation come my way
Temptation take the day

Hey hey
This is the lid to my coffin case
You lay
Six feet of deep just to separate
Pine tar
And pitch and a rusted hinge
What’s left
Of a life that temptation spent
Hey hey
You are the storm and the sun will drown
I love
To love the way that you let me down
And if
I ever strut bring me right back down
Remind
Me today that temptation’s still in town

You choke like smoke
And define like a stain
You reign and the flood
Washes all but my name away
Temptation come my way
Temptation take the day

Watch this

You choke like smoke
And define like a stain
You reign and the flood
Washes all but my name away
Temptation come my way
Temptation take the day

General CommentI can't believe no one has commented on this yet!

Basically this song is about temptation and it's effect on people. No one can completely avoid it, but if you at least try to you will be able to live a much happier life because you won't feel the disappointment in yourself or suffer the consequences that giving into temptation brings about.

I'm sad that The Showdown doesn't sound as brutal as they did on A Chorus of Obliteration, but I really dig their new sound, it's a throwback to classic metal. It's not as hard but it's still just as powerful.

General Commentthis song is crazy good musically....but why in the world is a christian band saying bastard and like whore (in another song) ? i mean i know there are worse things to say but i do not think it is fitting of those who profess Jesus Christ.

General CommentWhore is not a good word to mess around with, but it is a reality and they don't just toss it around.

As for the song itself, he is talking about how giving into temptation can have sin and Satan himself build strongholds in your mind. Eventually, it may bring you so far from God, and eventually, it may bring your death. You need to immerse yourself in God's word, in his love, and be obedient to him.

If you are having troubles removing sin from your life, ask God to show you what it is that you need to remove. If you already know what you need gone, for instance, a pornography or drug addiction, or maybe to rid your mouth of foul language, then pray to God that he will help you keep them from you and to purify yourself. Don't stop praying. Pray everyday for it, pray persistently. Maybe he will help you through his word, maybe through song, maybe through books, maybe through people. Be open and listen for his word.

The song says that he wants God to remind him that temptation is always gonna be there, and to never give in. He wants God's blessing and will in his life- not to be a slave to sin but to his righteousness (Romans 6).

Flee from temptation, and resist the devil. One of the best ways to not give into temptation is to never have to face it.

General CommentI feel that the composer of this song is asking temptation to come towards him because like TracerAdvanced said, it's always gonna be there in this life. But what I disagree with is to flee from temptation. Instead of fleeing from it, I believe you should make the right choice and conquer it. James 4:7 says "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." so it is important to submit yourself to God first, then resist the devil and he will flee from you. Idk I may be wrong on this but I hope it is right. I don't think that you should run away from every situation but stand strong and defeat the temptation that comes your way. Romans 8:37 "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

General CommentSaying "temptation come my way" to me is similiar to saying "test me please!" or "put me to the test". This is because IMO temptation can be a test to whether or not we will be resistant or give in to it.
