"Doomsayer (The Beginning Of The End)" as written by Paul Burnette, John Henry, Kristopher Norris, Ryan Parrish and Michael Schleibaum....
you are the only one with the ability to turn this tide
with the capacity to learn the truth and burn the lies
that signalize our disgust so come with me,
I'll be your doomsayer and show you everything
that you'll never see
behind borrowed eyes you're living in the end
you're not alone
decrepit monuments sit on their own thrones
the crushing weight relentless in its pull
resist!
or be diluted with the rest all weare,
leads us to inherent insurgence
it leads you to deceive yourself
when you believe you've been bled dry
and aren't you sick of waiting for nothing
facilitating all your demons staring at the sun
I watched it rise and collide
with this dream where I had stopped living in the past
stopped living with that crash/burn longing
it'll pass
it brings you to your knees
reliving that same nightmare where you realize..
and who can save you,
not their gods and not their masters
and who will free you,
look in the mirror

General CommentThis song, even if it was the first track, made the album for me. Brutal, heavy, and fast. Just like DH should always be. LIVE TO THRASH, THRASH TO LIVE

That part pretty much sums up how I see things. Great song!

My InterpretationDoomsayer is about many things and has many meanings, alot of you are correct in saying its about self-salvation, but it also implies a changing of times, a realization and re-invention, the discovery of ones inner potential.

To sum it up its about living a lie, a mascarade if you will, believing what you're told and not attempting to make your own judgements on the world around you, realizing the error in that way and freeing yourself of it, re-inventing yourself for the better, the beginning of the end

General CommentRashul, you are totally right. But this song is about waking up and realizing that you are the only one that can save yourself from something in particular. This something in particular is religion. The lines that blatantly point to this are: "Who can save you? Not their Gods and not their Masters...who will free you, look in the mirror" "I'll be your doomsayer and show you everything that you'll never see behind borrowed eyes" 'Borrowed eyes' means seeing only what the religion tells you is true. "It brings you to your knees." "You're not alone decrepit monuments sit on their own thrones the crushing weight relentless in its pull resist! or be diluted with the rest." John also refers to the tides in this song. The song, "The Tides" is also about resisting religion.
