"Fire in the Skies" as written by Paul Burnette, John Henry, Kristopher Norris, Ryan Parrish and Michael Schleibaum....
We keep drifting on and on
Across this barren wasteland
Seared earth laid waste
On another plane of existence

Blinding brilliant light
Alludes to the illusion of serenity
So show me what it takes
To fall asleep on the eve of destruction

Set ablaze
Like the plague in our brooding Creations

Look up and align
With the fire in the skies

Cracked with the drought
Something amiss
In the bleak blissed out
Song in our heads
Completely depleted
Flashing, fading, in and out
Showered in sweet redemption
That final glimpse into abyss
On the brink of eruption

General Commentits about 911. its song number 9 of 11 songs. the title is fire in the skies, talking about the plane crashing and burning.

So show me what it takes
To fall asleep on the eve of destruction

means how could we be blind to what happened

    Set ablaze
Like the plague in our brooding Creations

    talks about the building.

General Commenti don't what it means, but when i see ' so show me what it takes to fall sleep on the eve of destruction' i think he's asking someone to break all this tense feeling he has, so he can realax. Relax enough to were he could even fall asleep on the eve of destruction, when he should be most tense.

General CommentScientists believe that the sun will eventually run out of fuel (like every star) unleashing massive solar flares that will ensure the destruction of earth. This song may be offering a glimpse into what our future will look like before the sun essentially explodes. I think this song very much relates to the general themes of deliver us, decay, destruction, and apathy. Fire in the skies portends to the future after civilization has been undone by the hand of man on the eve of of the final day of existence.
