"Love Me Like The World Is Ending" as written by and Ben Lee....
This is the first day of the future
And all I want is you
I wear a pair of socks you left here
But I know, I know, I know
Nobody could ever fill your shoes

I can see so clearly
When your smoke gets in my eyes
Please me with your promises
And hurt me with your lies

Baby can you hear
The message I am sending?
Love me like the world is ending

This is the last day of existence
And all I want is you
And there's a certain sadness
But I know, I know, I know
The sky is what makes the ocean blue
I know, I know, I know
The sky is what makes the ocean blue

I can see so clearly
When your smoke gets in my eyes
Please me with your promises
And hurt me with your lies

Baby can you hear
The message I am sending?
Love me like the world is ending
Love me like the world is ending

And they all say to pour it has to rain
So don't complain if we get wet in the deep end

I can see so clearly
When your smoke gets in my eyes
Please me with your promises
And hurt me with your lies

Baby can you hear
The message I am sending?
Love me like the world is ending
Love me like the world is ending
Come on and
Love me like the world is ending

General CommentThis is such a good song, but one thing annoys me every time.
"I know, the sky is what makes the ocean blue."... Argh, just that line makes me cringe, as well all know it that the sky doesn't make the ocean blue, or even vice versa.

General CommentIt seems to be a rather simple song to me, with a straightforward meaning.

To the comment above, ^^ the line that goes 'I know, the sky is what makes the ocean blue'...but the sky IS why the ocean's blue. One of the reasons, anyway. The other reason involves scattered light and the human eye only seeing the blue spectrum or something like that. Look it up, I didn't entirely understand it.

General CommentWhen he sings "there's a certain sadness.
but i know, i know, i know, the sky is what makes the ocean blue."
I think he is comparing the sky making the ocean "blue" (as in a blue mood but also the color blue as well) to sadness, and how there is a beauty to it. Like, the beautiful sky makes the beautiful ocean which is blue "blue". I think he's just trying to get at the fact that it's a sadness with a certain beauty too and things will be alright. I don't think he means literally, or like it's proven that the sky is what makes the ocean blue. I think it was a type of metaphor maybe.

    If that makes sense :)

General Commentthis song is really beautiful. and to those who are criticizing the fact that the sky is what makes the ocean blue, it's a song not an persuasive essay. this is songmeanings.net not criticalpointsonsongs.net.

He means the line more metaphorically, I'd say. He's saying that without the sky, the ocean is nothing. But when they are next to each other is when the ocean is truly beautiful. Representing how he feels about the girl, that she brings out the best in him.
