Can this be real?
Is she really laying next to me?
The city speaks through her window singing me to sleep.
I feel like I'm getting into this too deep.
So...

I've got your voice
Singing in my head.
Always find a way, a way to pull me in too,
But I can't have you.
You've got his eyes
Burning in your mood.
He looks at you and you fall apart on cue.
I lay without you.

I can't take this anymore here, you're winning.
Always coming back to push for more,
I'm pushing.

Can this be real?
Is she really laying next to me?
The city speaks through her window singing me to sleep.
I feel like I'm getting into this too deep.
So...

Like you intentionally
Pull me off my feet.
Always looked my way oh it's safe to say that,
"Now I need you."
Then I come in close.
I see you look exposed.
Get to thinking about the situation you're in now,
You're often wanted.

I can't take this anymore, you're waiting.
Always coming back wanting to push for more,
I'm pushing.
Start pushing.

Can this be real?
Is she really laying next to me?
The city speaks through her window singing me to sleep.
I feel like I'm getting into this too deep
So...
I begin to feel your head as you lay it on my chest.
You say you feel safe but baby so do all the rest.
So how do I know this isn't just a test, no?

How do you sway?
Don't you know I would rather let it suffocate?
This constant feeling I'm finished enough to take.
I'm too stupid I know,
I'd like to keep the losing short.
Gotta stop struggling for nothing
Please set me free, from me.

Can this be real?
Is she really laying next to me?
The city speaks through her window singing me to sleep.
I feel like I'm getting into this too deep
So...
I begin to feel your head as you lay it on my chest.
You say you feel safe, but baby so do all the rest.
So how do I know this isn't just a test, no?

How do you sway?
Don't you know I would rather let it suffocate?
This constant feeling unfinished rough to take.
How do you sway?
Don't you know I would rather let it suffocate?
This constant feeling unfinished rough to take.]

Ugh, this song is horrible in my opinion. The album was a huge letdown for me..

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
