"Hold On" as written by Edwin Makromallis and Katie Tunstall....
Say you to me
You're a bird with an eye for anything shiny
Searching the land for a hero of a man
You say I need
More than my fair share of attention
But I think you know
That just isn't so

Oh underneath I felt the fire of a burning question
Tearing me apart,
Right from the very start.
And now I see,
That it don't take a trick
Of the light to excite me.
So Strong
So Long
You'll see

Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on to what you know you've got.
Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on 'cause the world will turn if you're ready or not.

Simplicity,
A heart of gold, an old head in young shoulders
Quiet and lovely,
Becoming part of me.
And now I see from a handful of names and a thousand faces.

One light burning
Fiercely

I was tired of January
I was tired of June
I felt a change a-coming
oh oh
I was tired of January
Tired of June
I felt a change a-coming
oh oh
I felt a change a-coming,
I felt a change a-coming,
I felt a change a-coming soon.

Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on to what you know you've got.
Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on 'cause the world will turn if you're ready or not.

Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on to what you know you've got.
Hold on to what you've been given lately.
Hold on 'cause the world will turn if you're ready or not.

Well the world will turn if you're ready or not
Whoa-oh
Yes the world will turn if you're ready or not.

General CommentAnother great KT song about change. I loved "Through the dark" on Eye to the Telescope. If anyone here hasnt heard it yet, you really need to listen to it. Its a slower song but has wonderful lyrics. I think Hold On has a very Carpe Diem theme. That you need to enjoy, love, and take advantage of each and everyday because sooner or later things will change. I know I can really relate to this song being a college junior my life is changing rapidly. I almost feel like I was put in someone elses life.

General CommentThe lyrics aren't really that great to me, not compared to some of her other songs. But the beat is really catchy. I love it. The chorus makes me wanna get up and dance.

General CommentIt's catchy, but basic. I guess it means you need to hold on to something good while it lasts.

General CommentTrue. This song isn't as well written as, say, The Other Side of the World, but it is insanely catchy. I can't stop listening to it.

General Commentthis is the song and this is the artist who made me finaly start to respect female musicians, and get over the so called pop "artists" like fergie and rihanna

General Commenti think the chorus of this song doesn't match up wit the verses, but the third verse really stands out to me:
    "Simplicity
A heart of gold, an old head, and young shoulders
    Quiet and lovely
    Becomin' part of me
    And now I see
From a handful of names and a thousand faces
    One light, burnin', furiously"
it's about growing up/growing older, keeping a good heart, being wise like an old person but also young at heart. and also about choosing the right path. like it used to seem like there were a thousand things to do w/ your life but now it's clear what you want to do.

General CommentOkay, we all know the song is catchy, thanks for stating the obvious and not talking about the MEANING of the song. Do you remember what website this is? It's Songmeanings.net not Myspace.

I liked how Furtado Fan37 mentioned Carpe Diem, good job. I think that is very true. Hold on to the good things you have in life, but don't fall into boring routine. (Tired of January, Tired of June. I come from the frozen Tundra so the idea of being tired of both January AND June must refer to some ingrained routine that has become dreadfully boring. People in warmer climates might not get that, but KT is from Scotland so she might.) blue.painted.tears also made a great point. I think, in the end, this song is her advice for how to live a good, happy life. Don't care what others think of you (verse one), Be wise like the old and healthy like the young, and have a pure heart with good intentions (verse 2), hold on to the blessings you have been given (chorus) and don't let your life turn into a routine (what is that called, the bridge? lol.)

and H Cool, you are not cool. I have Fergie, KT Tunstall, Rihanna, Joss Stone and Gwen Stafani (old school no doubt) on my MP3 player, there is nothing wrong with that. I happen to LOVE Fergie AND KT Tunstall. That does not make me dumb or tasteless or anything like that, so don't imply that it does. And to say you don't respect most female artists is just plain sexist. Don't be like that. shame.

General CommentLadyVampYvette is right you guys need to stop writing JUST what you think. Furtado Fan37 is right in the fact that the song is about holding onto something because NOTHING lasts forever (you all know that's true) but it can be regained somehow and if you learn from that expirence you will hold onto it.

All who say this is a basic and non well written song are misguided. This song can be taken multiple (I am aware of how this contradicts what I have said about the meaning of the song) ways and is written superbly. The connontation is serious but playful suggesting that this song is written from expirence and thus could be viewed differently through that light.
