"I Let Her Get Away" as written by and Michael Anthony Viola....
The moon and the sun fight for room in the sky
Nothing tonight is gonna come easy
I set fire to her heart so I could find her in the dark
But the sad part is she believed me

She let me get away with everything
She let me get away with everything
I let her get away

A spare set of keys were overnighted to me
I was delighted to see a note attached
Looks like one of the seeds I have sown
Spread inside of her like mold
On the cement basement floor where I laid her down

She let me get away with everything
She let me get away with everything
And I let her get away

Well it all came back in my face
And the past sprayed out like mace
But it was just a little taste
Of what was to come

Now the only room she's left for me
Is on her answering machine
Where I'd say anything to anyone

She lets me get away with everything
She lets me get away with everything
I let her get away

I let her get away
I let her get away
I let her get away

General CommentIt's a story, kind of.

"I set fire to her heart
so I could find her in the dark
But the sad part is she believed me"

'Lit a flame' for her, so he'd have someone to be with.. Lead a girl on, basically, he used her. Unfortunately, she didn't realize it.

Next part of the story, she gave him her house keys. A sense of trust. Through a note he learns, apparently, that not only is he given the right to live and be with her, but that he's knocked her up in the process.

She learns what he's been doing. An argument ensues, karmic payback, 'the past sprayed out like mace'. Fortunately, there was so much more to it than that. He's out of her life now, and she won't even care to listen to him outright anymore.

She's always been a doormat and non-confrontational, it seems -- she was always letting him get away with everything -- but in the end, he took her for granted. He let -her- get away.
