"You Better Not Look My Way" as written by Oliver Robert Main and Matthew Peter George Bowman....
Well I'm alright,
But I'm uptight from saying,
If you should come here tonight,
Well you better not look my way,
You better not look my way.

Well I don't like the things that you're saying,
So if I see you tonight,
Well you better not get in my way,
You better not get in my way.

But then I always here us saying...

Come around honey cos I need you tonight,
Now I couldn't take anymore,
Come around honey but I don't need reminding,
Of who's been here before.

Cos I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying,
I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying.

Well I'm alright,
But I'm uptight from saying,
If you should come here tonight,
Well you better not look my way,
You better not look my way.

Well I don't like the things that you're saying,
So if I see you tonight,
Well you better not get in my way,
You better not get in my way.

But then I always here us saying...

Come around honey cos I need you tonight,
Now I couldn't take anymore,
Come around honey but I don't need reminding,
Of who's been here before.

Cos I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying,
I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying.

Come around honey cos I need you tonight,
Now I couldn't take anymore,
Come around honey but I don't need reminding,
Of who's been here before,
Come around honey cos I need you tonight,
Now I couldn't take anymore.

Cos I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying,
I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying.

Cos I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying,
I'm trying..Trying..
I'm so tired of trying

General Commentwell at first i thought this was another pigeon detectives song about bickering between a 'sort of' couple. i thought it was about how the girl really got on his nerves but she was his sorta booty call, and he'd prefer it if she just wouldnt speak. but then i really thought it could have been something more as the chorus seems to be much more emotional.
it could be that shes cheated on him and he still finds it hard to listen to her, and deal with her but he obviously doesnt want to end it. 'better not get in my way', seems like he needs time. but he 'needs her', he couldnt take anymore without her but he cant seem to be with her, a horrible limbo.
its like hes trying to tell her in this song, that he cares but he cant stand her and what she did to him, 'i dont like the things your saying'. hes trying to tell her that hes 'trying' to get over it but hes tired and hes just worked up and cant seem to get over it, as whenever he sees her she 'reminds him of whos been here before'.
either that or the singer is talking about his own inadequacies that he doesnt want to be reminded of a better previous boyfriend, hes trying his hardest, and all this living up is making him ill and tired, and he loves her so hell do it, despite all the confusion and the relationship generally making him more sad than happy.

General CommentI can see what you're sayin' lauralauralaura.

I see it like boy and girl, they have a thing. He doesn't really know how he feels about her but it's obvious what he feels about him, she really likes him and interested. He might not be the relationship kind of guy... "Well you better not look my way" I see him saying that as in he almost feels guilty when he catches her eyes looking at him. "Well I don't like the things that you're sayin'" She might be threatening him, saying that if he doesn't make it official or at least acknowledge then she's going to stop giving herself away so easily.
"But then I always hear us saying" meaning how they agree on only one thing, just getting together when he's in the mood. "I don't need remindin' of whose been here before" is him saying how she probably brings up all the other girls that have been in his bed besides her, which bothers her and him for her reminding him everytime she comes over.
"I'm tryin' i'm tryin'" seems like he's almost pestered by her antagonizing him, like he's saying "I'm trying to figure out how I feel." and he's tired of it.
I think the reason he repeats the first two verses after the one when he talks about how they say "come around honey" is because he's over it, and doesn't want her to look at him cause he still feels slightly guilty. It's a repeating pattern.

My OpinionI think this is the best Pigeon Detectives song. It's deep and like lauralauralaura said, it's not one of their other songs about having a 'friendship with benefits" thing going on there.
Even the music gets you thinking, it doesn't sound as upbeat as their other songs.
The music makes you think really hard and really express your feelings.
The Pigeon Detectives are amazing, by far my 3rd favorite band.

General CommentIt beats Marvin Gaye's song about going home with someone from a bar. Good song. Good band. Lousy fucking night. Wrong choice of wording.
