There's a girl that wants to start
Been thinking about having a couple of kids
Comb a brush around their heads in the morning
To be needed, simply and be needing
Her name is Karen
Been on the road for so long
She wants to live in a place that has a number in a name
Find lovers and anchor before the courage is gone

She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you

To live life outside the world
To break the cross that bears her name
She's not your queen anymore, queen of the highway
Needs something better than learning away

She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you

Gone away
Queen of the highway
Gone away

Hide away
Queen of the highway
Gone away

I just watched an interview (wish I could find it now) where Natasha was explaining a few song meanings including The Wizard and Prescilla, and she mentioned a theme that's right in line with the new album; essentially, two sides of the same woman wanting two different things, just the inner conflict of being drawn in two directions. So it sounds to me like Prescilla was setting the stage for Pearl :]

But I totally made the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert connection as well!

I saw it as a Jolene style song: Karen loves this guy but Precilla has the capacity to take him away from her. On reflection, the road trip and Precilla Queen of the Desert aspects are also appealing.

I know this is probably going waaaay off target here but I always thought there might be some significance in the names themselves. Priscilla means "old ways" and Karen means "untouched" so I always interpreted it as the same woman speaking about herself in two forms somehow making a plea to fate or old habits to release the "Karen" part of herself from the "Priscilla" part. "She's not your queen anymore, queen of the highway", meaning that somehow she had found a reason to "want to start" and has to rebirth herself in a new form (from her "old ways" to a form that was "pure") to make that way happen and is arguing with herself about it.

I heard (don't remember where)that this song was about Karen who wants to settle down and have kids with a man she loves, and then Prescilla, is this Femme Fatale who tries to get this same man, and Bat is trying to tell Prescilla that Karen really loves him, and not to seduce the man.

Very reminiscent to the whole Pearl story, and the Siren Song in a way. I have a feeling Natasha has had problems with cheating men in the past.

"Find lovers and anchor before the courage is all gone"

    otherwise, looks good. :]

beautiful song. so, meaning. about a girl named carrie? who wants to settle down, just because she feels the desire to be needed. perhaps the narrarator and 'prescilla' are talking about 'carrie', and she is trying to convince her that carrie really does love the man she's settling down with?

there's probably some deeper meaning, but i can't find it. thoughts?

fantastic song, either way. natasha's incredible. :]

carrie? I thought it was karen. hard to say. I think you are right solarflair...I think natasha must have a friend she went on a road trip with ('queen of the highway') and they had lots of wild times together on the road...but now its time for her to settle down, which is sad for her friends but happy for her as she really loves him. So yeah, what you said!

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
