Pills, Demons, Etc. Lyrics

You
You got the skills
You got the pills
You're gettin' older
You got the weight of all that's left you on your shoulder
But the world still waits for you
Throw yourself right through it

You got your demons and your
Wasted Life
You could
Pull the trigger and you'll
End the strife
You could

Yeah
I got the news you had the blues
You bought a ticket
To the one place that I won't be goin' to visit
What the fuck were you thinking of?
Now I'll stare right through you

You got your demons and your
Wasted Life
You could
Pull the trigger and you'll
End the strife
You got your demons and your
Fancy Wine
It will go down easy if you
Spread a line

*solo*

You got your demons and your
Wasted Life
You could
Pull the trigger and you'll
End the strife
You got your demons and your
Fancy Wine
It will go down easy if you
Spread a line

I think Scott wrote this song about himself. He went through a hard time with his drug addiction and his divorce.

This song, as well as "For A Brother" are about Scott and Matt's brothers, who both died of drug overdoses during the making of the album. Also, it's "Spend the night," not "Spread the line."

...and while we're at it, is it "Throw yourself right through it" or "Though you sail right through it"? And I thought it was "You've got your demons and your ways of life"...but now I hear it both ways. Dammit.

Surely a call-out song to drug abusers. Something that Scott and the others know about all too well.
