"Face Of Bear" as written by and Engstrom Isen....
Winters coming
days die short
at the end of autumns reign
hunger becomes ravenous
hibernation never waits
soon the silent slumber
for now october's feast
fearless and graceful
crashing through dead leaves

DON'T FEED THE BEARS
OR THE BEARS WILL FEED ON YOU

all the forest fauna
frozen feeling fear
flinching at the moment
face to face with face of bear
all the forest creatures
vanish from sight
their betters come with hungers
that cannot be denied

soon the silent
dreaming's coming
hunger's drumming
nights grow long
neither plant or beast
have walls or doors

to protect them from the greatest of the omnivores
towering
over my head
terrible beauty
FUCK I'M DEAD!

THE HUNGER!!!!
THE HUNGER!!!!
THE HUNGER!!!!
THE HUNGER!!!!

Fall is falling
stars are conquering
dead branches soaked with rain
Bear gut glut on critters
heavy eyes feeling weight
twilight sighs
in animal eyes
a new cycle will begin
this winter when trees are white
the fauna is free from him

DON'T FEED THE BEARS
OR THE BEARS WILL FEED ON YOU

I'll die with the honor i choose
I'll fight face of bear and lose

FACE TO FACE
WITH FACE OF BEAR
FACE TO FACE
WITH FACE OF BEAR
FACE TO FACE
WITH FACE OF BEAR
FACE TO FACE
WITH FACE OF BEAR
FACE THE BEAR
I'LL FACE THE BEAR
FACE THE BEAR
I'LL FACE THE BEAR

General CommentThis song is quite obvious but I just love how Horse the band has the ability to create unique (or messed up) stories for people to picture in their head while listening.

General CommentTrue. Someone should add lyrics from "I Think We Are Both Suffering From the Same Crushing". Good song. The CD needs to come out already -_-

General CommentThis has to be about how powerful other beings are on this planet rather than humans. They took a simple animal, a bear, and turned it into a song about how intense a bear's lif is. Nathan's descriptions are top-notch in this song. It's so visual.

General CommentI think it's about camping. Bears get into your food, then one of them pokes its head into your tent. And you're FACE TO FACE WITH THE FACE OF A BEAR.

    General Commentsuch a good song...
it just makes you realize how useless humans are without their guns and cities. in nature the bear is the dominant species, the other animals can do nothing to protect themselves, and neither could we if it ever came down to a legitimate fight without weapons.
i love the line where he says "i'll die with the honor i choose/i'll fight face of bear and lose" like he is recognizing that humans need to stop thinking of themselves as so much better than the other creatures we share the earth with. the only honorable way to go is the way nature intended, becoming a meal for a hungry animal.

not to mention the breakdown FUCKING DESTROYS!!!

General CommentHot damn. The intensity of this song just fucking OBLITERATES.
Plus..This song + Geometry Wars = Pretty decently high scores. Because nothing in the world gets me more pumped than playing Geometry Wars with HtB playing in the background, whilst downing a bottle of Jackie D's.

General CommentThe song in all its depth seems anything but obvious, but what is fairly obvious is that hunger is a key to the meaning of this song and the bear can be viewed as the vehicle of that hunger, but lets not be mistaken here, this song is about people, not bears.
The hunger, whatever that may be, from alcohol to sex to big macs to watching football, will end up feeding on you if you continue to feed it.
