And we both go down together
We'd stay there forever
Just try to get up
And I'm sorry this wasn't easy
When I asked you
Believe me
And never let go

Well, I'm thinking of the worst things
That I could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore

And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say

And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
When I asked you
Believe me
You never let go
But I let go

I could only sing you sad songs
And you could sing along
And you could see the melody
That's been calling out your wrongs

And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say
But I never told you everything
I'm losing hope and fading dreams
And every single memory along the way

And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
When I asked you
Believe me
You never let go
But I let go

And we both go down together
And stay there forever
Just try to get up

And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
When I asked you
Believe me
You never let go
But I let go

General CommentThis song isn't easy to understand, and I think it's almost impossible unless you can relate it to sonthing that has happened to you, personal experience.

Basically, this is about how the guy is trying to let out his true feelings about something the girl has done that has upset him in the past. They have obviously tried to make things work, fix things, but it isnt working for him, he still feels pain because of what happened.

"And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
    But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say"

What she has done, I think cheating on him, will "never be right with him", he can never forgive her, even though he is "trying desperately". Yet he pretends everything is ok, hides his true feelings, becuase he is "terrified if what he'll say". He dosn't want to lose her, he still loves her, but loving her is painful after what she did, he can't forgive it, no matter how desperately he tries.

That also explains the line "but I never told you everything" - he never told her his true feelings on what she did to him.

"And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go "

So they will "both go down together" or both be upset and scarred because of what she did, and they may carry on being together forever, and he will carry on trying to forgive her, and "get back up". He goes on to apologize for what it happening, how it isn't easy to live like this, have to ask her to break up even though he still loves her. The final line is saying that she wasn't the one who let go, it was him.

Finally, the title, is referring to the pain this will cause her when she realises how much what she did effected him, how much it tore him apart inside, and caused him to hate loving her. He is saying he would hate to be her when she realises what she has done to him.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like he has something on his mind that he wants to tell her or ask her. But he doesn't want it to come out all wrong. Perhaps she did something and he knows, but she may not know he knows? And after what she did, he will never look at her the same. But he just wants to find out.

    idk, just my 2 cents

General Commenthonestly, i think this song can be about two friends. maybe one is in love with the other?

i don't know but the line "And we both go down together
We'd stay there forever" just seems like something friends would say to each other. like if one gets caught, both get caught, something like that.

"And I'm sorry this wasn't easy when I asked you
    Believe me"
maybe he was letting out his true feelings to her and she seemed shocked or something or started avoiding him without realizing how hard it was just for him to let it all out.

"Well, I'm thinking of the worst things
That I could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore"

maybe he's trying to find the right words to say to her, come on we all know that having a conversation with your crush isn't always the easiest. but the part about a promise, could be that he told her something, maybe his true feelings, and made her promise not to tell anyone and yet she did anyways.

"And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But I'm tongue tied and terrified of what I'll say"

i think in this part he's sorta regreting telling her his true feelings or he just feels he didn't put it in the right words and now she's trying to in her head. and now he's scared of what he's going to say to her next, something like that.

    "You never let go
    But I let go"
this makes me think that like maybe once she started to hold onto him and fall in love with him, he let go of it all.

i know that was all bad but hey, we all have different inturpretations.

General CommentI don't think we're like supposed to know exactly what he's referring to that this person has done. Hence the song title. I really only joined the site because I really wanted to say that. I think that's what the deepness of the whole song is about, this person's done something really bad, but no one else needs to know.

General CommentThis song is great but it reminds me of a past relationship. When i was in it, we both thought we fell in love, but at times, i didn't really feel the love, and i tried to keep it to myself but then it just started going down hill so i let go...and she tried "desperately" to hold on, but it was no use. The verse below says everything i felt. So, i think that this song is about two people that fell in love, but the guy realized that the relationship was not what he had hoped it to be. So everything began to fade, yet she still clung on

And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
But I'm tongue-tied and terrified of what I'll say
But I never told you everything
I'm losing hope and fading dreams
And every single memory along the way

My InterpretationI just think this is about a guy who realizes that his relationship isn't working. He wants to say it as easy as possible but he just keeps putting it off because he doesn't want to hurt her but in doing so he's just making the situation worse for them. All he sees in their relationship are the bad things and she's trying to make it work.

"And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go"

I think this is pretty much an excuse like 'it's not you it's me'..

and the title 'I'd Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About': Probably because the song makes her look pathetic.

Song MeaningTo me, this song is about two suicidal/emo people who are in love and struggling to stay alive because they think they're life is horrible.

"And we Both go Down together,"
Trying to kill themselves, passing out, all that stuff. Going to Hell with each other.
    "We may stay there forever."
    Not being saved from there.
    "Just try to get up,"
    Try To stay alive.
"And I'm sorry this Wasn't easy."
Sorry about how he makes her live miserable sometimes.
    "You never let go,"
Never let go of her life.
    "But I let go,"
    Leaving her, killing himself.

General CommentAnd we both go down together
    (they fall in love)
    We'd stay there forever
    (theyd stay together forever)
    Just try to get up
(trying to get out of what they thought was love)
And I'm sorry this wasn't easy
    (hes felling bad about something)
    When I asked you
    Believe me
(hes saying it wasnt easy for him to ask her to beleave him)
    And never let go
(so i think he asked her to hold onto him and there love but he didnt mean it at all)

Well, I'm thinking of the worst things
That I could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore
(but this is where i changed my mind i think she did something, and broke a promise, and he would love to get it off his mind but he cant)

And this never will be right with me
(whatever she did hell never be ok with it)
And now you're trying to desperately
(shes trying to win him back or get him to spill whats on his mind)
    But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say
(hes scared of letting words slip out, so he might be hiding his feelings)

And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
(there both going down together, with whatever happened, i think she may of cheated)
I'll just try to get up
(hes trying to pick up his life again as best as he can)
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go
(so he asked her to believe him when he said this wasnt easy, i think he broke up with her and it wasnt easy for him and when he told her to believe him and not let go, was probably before he found out what she did, and now there over)
I could only sing you sad songs
    And you could sing along
And you could see the melody
That's been calling out your wrongs
(where it says calling out your wrongs, meaning she did do something wrong, and thats all he has on his mind anymore)

And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
    But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say
But I never told you everything
I'm losing hope and fading dreams
And every single memory along the way
(he hasnt told her whats been bothering him, not everything anyways, and now hes losing hope in what they had, And the memorys are fading)

And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go

And we both go down together
    And stay there forever
    Just try to get up

And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go

My InterpretationAnd we both go down together
    We'd stay there forever
    Just try to get up
And I'm sorry this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    And never let go
~As I see it they both fell in love and the plan was to stay in love forever and to try to get up from the bad times together.
~He asked her something that was obiviously hard for him to ask (like disbelief), and he wanted to believe and neither of them wanna let go, due to the whole being together forever.

Well, I'm thinking of the worst things
That I could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore
~So she messed up and she tells him, and even if she promises that it won't happen again He doesn't believe it.

And this never will be right with me
~He's not ok with what she did, because he still loves her
And now you're trying to desperately
~He's made up his mind to break up with her, but she doesn't want to break up
    But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say
~whatever he says will hurt her

And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
~They fell in love, Notice the use of words here.. now forever is a "may". So he's no longer sure that they'll be together forever.
I'll just try to get up
~Now he is trying to put himself back together
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go
~He broke up with her and it was hard for him to do so.. And in the begging I guess they promised not to let go of their love, but in the end he was the one who let go.

I could only sing you sad songs
    And you could sing along
And you could see the melody
That's been calling out your wrongs
~He is sad over what happened and will only dedicate her sad songs that will call her out and what she did. And by 'you could sing along' he means you can recognize what you did wrong.
And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying to desperately
    But I'm tongue-tied
And terrified of what I'll say

But I never told you everything
I'm losing hope and fading dreams
And every single memory along the way
~He was always too afraid to tell her what he really thought, how she hurt him when he still loved her.. he is gradually forgetting about her, the hopes and dreams he had in their love and the time they had together, Those are now memories that he forced himself to forget inorder to get back up again, to feel okay with himself again.

And then we both go down together
    We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy
    When I asked you
    Believe me
    You never let go
    But I let go.

General CommentLol I honestly thought this song was about him being gay for a little while but it didn't work out for him and he was worried about breaking his partners heart. Just my opinion.
