Well, this hurts me more than I can stand to say
In just one sitting
You left the room so I could pray
So I'll pace the halls to see if I could find a hole in something
Or maybe places to escape

Oh, and everybody knows this is the part
Of breaking down in anybody's arms
I'm reaching down and hoping this one's ours

God, please let this stay
And then I fell into pieces
And she fell into me
Saying, play me a song
Its been too long since I've heard
You sing

And you got here just in time
To let me know I was worth saving
If nothing more than for the heart
Too proud to breathe
But all too scared to say
The things worth saying
Who knew this trip would be this hard

As I'm looking to the sky to count the stars
I wonder if you see them where you are
I'm down on both my kness
To pray tomorrow brings no pain

And then I fell into pieces
And she fell into me
Saying play me a song its been too long
Since I've heard you sing

And we all fall to pieces
But at least you fell to me
And this is the wrong night
Tell me goodnight and let it go

I stayed here
And you just prayed
My head would clear
And I'd stay safe

The pieces left that love has changed just saved everything

Oh, and everybody knows this is the part
Of breaking down in anybody's arms
I'm reaching down and hoping this one's ours

God, please let this stay
And then I fell into pieces
And she fell into me
Saying, play me a song
Its been too long since I've heard
You sing

And then I fell into pieces
And she fell into me
Saying play me a song its been too long
Since I've heard you sing

And yeah we all fall to pieces
But at least you fell to me
And this is the wrong night
Tell me goodnight and let it go

this song reminds me of like a long distances relationship. like he had to leave, go away somewhere. and hes on his way home for like a visit or whatever. and the trip home is the long and hard one. and when he finally gets back. neither of them can believe it. so they just fall into eachother. but hes praying that their love wont change when he has to go away again...

but thats my opinion. kinda reminds me of me and my boyfriend. maybe thats why possibly i think that? idk.

    Song Meaning

I think the song may be about a hard life. One that maybe he doesn't want to admit to people but he told her. He was scared to tell her about the rough life he's having so it hurts him and there is too much pain in his life to tell her right now. After he told her some of it she left to chew over everything and he prayed for her acceptance. Then it goes on to breaking down which people could see happening because of things getting worse (his life could be rough for whatever reason, the lyrics don't exactly pin it to one thing, that's why I think this could be the meaning behind the song) so he just breaks down in anyone's arms. "God, please let this stay." Again, he could be praying for her to stick with him. He says, "I fell into pieces and she fell into me" I think he's saying that he got worse and she dug deeper to try and help. "Play me a song, it's been too long since I've heard you sing." I think that maybe she meant his happiness in general. That with what's going on, he's not shown her real happiness like he used to so now she desperately wants it back. I think it goes on saying she basically accepted his life and helped him through maybe a suicidal moment. "But I'm too scared to say the things worth saying, who knew this trip would be this hard?" I think that part is where he doesn't want to tell her all of his emotions in fear of intimidating her but they may be important things because it's a big part of his life or the old saying about bottling things up aren't good etc. The part about the trip being hard I think means the situation, that it hit him a little harder than he was ready for. It then continues to sing about the stars. I think that part they aren't together (as in physically, still in a relationship) and he wonders what's going through her head, like if she's deep in thought like he is. The praying seems obvious: he hopes tomorrow would go more smoothely and his emotions won't be so high so he can try and smile for her again. "And yeah, we all fall to pieces But at least you fell to me But this is a wrong night Tell me goodnight and let it go" That part I think he's saying he's no different than anyone else because everyone goes through something bad at some point and he's glad that she was the one to be there with him, even though it was slightly rocky. But he doesn't want to talk to her about the problems, he wants her to let it go so they can try and forget it for the time and try and be happy for each other. "I stayed here and you just pray My head would clear and I'd stay safe And the pieces left That love had changed Just saved everything" She prayed for this to all blow over so he didn't do anything stupid like hurt himself in whatever way. The love she gave to him helped make everything better.

Okay, I think that covers it all. Sorry if it's wrong, but it's how I saw it. Everyone came up with break-ups and I just didn't hear it that way. This is my personal view of the song, it's up to you to decide if you agree. Have fun.

to me, its talking about his girlfriend dying.

like 'you left the room so i could pray' like she left the world and now hes praying for her to come back.

and 'breaking down in anybodys arms' he misses her so much, and it hurts so bad hes breaking down not having her anymore.

'as im looking at the sky to count the stars I wonder if you see them where you are.' he can see the stars, and he just hopes she can see them too in heaven.

'And then I fell into pieces and she fell into me Saying, Play me a song. It's been too long since I've heard you sing.' hes falling apart about without her. and he imagines her coming back and falling into his arms one more time. and she wants him to sing again. but hes so sad, he hasn't sung because hes dwelling on thoughts of her.

I listen to this song mainly just to hear that part over and over again because for some reason it means a lot to me.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
