"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
Betrayed one more time
But somewhere down that line
You're gonna get what's coming to you
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now!
Pull it out from my back
Soon I'm the one that's on attack
Can't wait to return the favor
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now!
Too many time I've seen it, rip a hole into our friendship
This is how it's been, how it always will be
You think you're above me (You think you're above me!)
But now I'm here to envy
Four words to choke upon!
Look! (Look!)
At, me
Now!
Betrayed one more time
But somewhere down that line
You're gonna get what's coming to you
Look at me now
Look at me now
Look at me now!
Pull it out from my back
Soon I'm the one that's on attack
Can't wait to return the favor
Look at me now

You think you're above me (You think you're above me!)
But now I'm here to envy
Four words to choke upon!
Look! (Look!)
At, me
Now!
Oh!
Too many time I've seen it, rip a hole into our friendship
Four words to choke upon!

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
This song has a very blatent meaning. I'm surprised none of you have gotten it completly.
More or less, Being rejects, a so-called-friend finally starts to get popular, and abanndons him. Says "what do you matter, no one likes you and you'll never amount to anything. Then He's just like, yknow what? Fuck you.
Later the frined comes crawling back. Begging for forgiveness. And he turns them down. The friend retaliates. Starts talking shit. Shows their true colors.
Now he's just like. Look at me now. I'm way better off than you. I never needed you. You needed me. Now you can choke on those words.
pretty obvious to most of us but the 4 words i think are 'look at me now'
I think this is about two people who were friends and now 1 looks down on the other and the other person is sick of it hence the 'look at me now!'
I like this song, not sure if it's as good as hand of blood though...
Pretty good song, lyrics are mostly correct but I think apart from
Betreaded one more time, But to many times that time
I think it's
Betrayed one more time But somewhere down that line
Pretty good song, already awaiting b4mv's full album. These guys kick serious ass!!
seen em twice, awesome.
cant wait to see these guys live.
Just been confirmed as playing main stage at reading what an awesome acheievment for a new band considering that FFAF played radio one stage last year.... Go BFMV this song ain't as good as there others but it still rocks
he sounds mean and angry, the truth is that such anger comes from love. Such anger has a cause right? why cant he turn to the cause to resolve the problems, instead of vengence which no good can come (my opinion). Love has a pull-1 point to another. Let anger subside and empathy make change. I guess thats just advice not an interpretation but such anger is baggage that only brings more pain. Never heard of this band, i'm ignorant.
sounds like matt is fed up of givin his girlfriend or ex chances over and over again i.e she is cheating onhim and it will happen to her some when!! brilliant song live!!
Four words to choke upon,
And what are those four words?
You'll. Never. Make. It.
