"Pirate Bones" as written by Wayne Wilkins, Andrew Frampton, Natasha Bedingfield and Stephen Kipner....
What if I squeeze myself into any shape
And I still don't fit?
What if I bend myself so much that I break
And I can't mend it?
What if I burn so bright that the fire goes out
And I can't stay lit?
What's the point in it?
I could get good at crying crocodile tears
Just to get along
I could carry on telling you wanna hear
'Till my voice is gone
But if I finally get to the place that I think is home
And I don't belong
What's the point in it?
Where's the benefit?
When I'm gaining all but I'm losing it

It's not worth having
If it's too much to hold
You can dig so deep
That you're left with a hole
Thirsty in a desert with a bag full of gold
Don't wanna end up like pirate bones
What I thought was precious was just a pile o' stones
I might have the treasure but I'd be lying alone
Just a pile of pirate bones
If I forfeit my soul it ain't worth having
If it's something I stole it ain't worth having

What if I stake everything I am on a dream
And it's counterfeit?
If I reach the end that justifies the means
Could I live with it?
And if it's true that having too much of any good thing
Can only make me sick
What's the point in it
Where's the benefit
When I'm gaining all but I'm losing it
Oh, oh

It's not worth having
If it's too much to hold
You can dig so deep
That you're left with a hole
Thirsty in a desert with a bag full of gold
Don't wanna end up like pirate bones
What I thought was precious was just a pile o' stones
I might have the treasure but I'd be lying alone
Pile of bones
If I forfeit my soul it ain't worth having
If it's something I stole it ain't worth having

It's not worth that much to me
If losing out is what it means
To swim in shallow victory
Is empty, empty
It's just not worth the price
It's only a fools paradise
If it's draining every drop of life 'till I'm dry like pirate bones

It's not worth having
If it's too much to hold
You can dig so deep
That you're left with a hole
Thirsty in a desert with a bag full of gold
Don't wanna end up like pirate bones
What I thought was precious was just a pile o' stones
I might have the treasure but I'd be lying alone
Just a pile of pirate bones
If I forfeit my soul it ain't worth having
No,
Pirate bones
Pirate bones
Pirate bones
If I forfeit my soul it ain't worth having
If it's something I stole it ain't worth having

General CommentMy ex girlfriend sent me this song and said she knows herself with the lyrics. I really wonder what it is about. I've been trying to analyze it but I don't know..

    Do you? :P

General Commentbasically is the juice worth the squeeze... she's questioning herself. What if she does everything in her power to get what she's reaching for, and when she gets there (if she ever gets there) will she be happy?

you go your whole life searching for something that isn't there.

General CommentWhat I think this song means is that she doesn’t want to conform, because she might make other people happy but at what cost, her happiness? Yeah she might make other people happy but she won’t be happy and she doesn’t want to end u p empty.
“Its not worth that much to me
If losing out is what it means
    This way may shallow victory
    Is empty
    Empty
Its just not worth the prize
Its only a fools pirate dies
If its draining every drop of lies
    Til I'm dry”

But that’s just what I think it means! : )

General CommentThis songs reminds me of when someone goes along in a relationship for the sake of a relationship (romantic, casual, etc.), not necessarily for their own emotional growth and well being. They feign their emotions and ideals to make the other person happy, but at the cost of their personal identity. And perhaps they receive some sort of happiness themselves, but it is of a material nature, such as sexual pleasure, so it conflicts with their soul -- their internal happiness. All the feigning and materialism seems to waste away identity and soul until only bones are left... and doing so also takes a toll on the other person, even if they are 'good as gold,' being sincere and searching for internal happiness. That person's being lugged around in a bag by someone who can't satisfy their own thirst in the middle of the desert... It hurts both people. They both remain lonely in the relationship.

General CommentSo this song really reminds me of the bible verse Matthew 16:26, to gain the world and lose your soul. I'm not saying its related religiously or even as a reference, but it makes sense. "If I reach the end that justifies the means"...the "end" being death, dying and seeing the life you lived wasnt worth it.
