You know it's hard for me to accept
That I will never have you
That you will always have the upper hand
You own my heart
I ain't got much left
So I am forced to find a dream worth fighting for
'Cause I'll fight tooth and nail until I'm dead

And I will fight tooth and nail until I'm dead
Because I am aware,
Got one life to live, why not take a chance?

She danced around the room
I just wanted to choke you blue (I wonder if it makes a difference)

And I know now that we will never speak

These open eyes,
They now see the reality
I only got one life to live
I'm tired of waiting on the stands
Time to put my life back in my hands

Go right ahead and marry the henchman
And when I show up at your wedding I'll bring flowers and a shotgun.

this song is probably "my" song. I know exactly what it means since i went through a lot of the same stuff in this song. its about a guy (i'll call him g. 1) who's in love with another girl who's in love with someone else (g.2) she uses g.1 to do stuff for her. he's so in love with her, he's willing to wait until something happens in her relationship. "And I will fight tooth and nail until I'm dead Because I am aware, Got one life to live, why not take a chance?" as the song progresses, he's tired of
"waiting on the stands" for their relationship to end, and its time to get his life back together. At the end of the song, he doesn't care any more.
"Go right ahead, and marry, the henchman." but his anger stays with him. "And when i show up at your wedding, i'll bring flowers, and a shotgun"

im not exactly sure what this is about

could be that he's talking to this girl he loved, who's with someone else now, and he's willing to fight anything to have her.

not sure though, i could be completely wrong.

i somewhat agree with that...it could also be about a girl he was with, who is now with someone who is a fuckin jerk or worse...he wants to kill her, so when he goes to there wedding he'll end it all

I think this is about a girl he was never with but always secretly admired and wanted to be with, yet never took the chance to ask her out (I only got one life to live, why not take a chance/I only got one life to live, tired of waiting on the stands). Then someone else came along and took the chance and now the girl's in a serious relationship with him, and the secret admirer will never have a chance to be with the girl like he always dreamed of since she's with this new guy, and this is so hard for him to accept that he kills them both (it's hard for me to accept that I will never have you/and when I show up at your wedding I'll bring flowers and a shotgun).

Either that or it was a girl that he was with but then they broke up and she started dating someone else and he's so frustrated and bitter about the fact that he has to just sit back and watch her be with someone else that he "puts life back in his own hands" and ends it.

i think its about him being in a relationship with a girl who completely had the upper hand and controlled him and then she just decided to end it and he really can do nothing about it and he cant let it go but hes trying to

I think its either a guy whose obsessed with some chick and he'd rather kill her than see her with some asshole or he wanted this girl but she's with another guy and he couldnt handle it so he just kills them both. Tight song

it is definately one of Emmure's finer songs. defiantely about a guy who is either bitter about going through a break up and losing the girl he wanted to another guy. or about liking a girl, and never taking the chance with her and some other guy coming along and getting what he wanted.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
