Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
I'll tell you right now that it ain't no use
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth

Pain was hunting me down but I gave him the slip
I left the city through a tunnel and I headed for the skids
With oregano oil in the morphine drip
Pain was a-hunting me down but I gave him the slip

And I fell in love with identical twins
And there's thirty-four summers between the two of them
I gave one my ego, I gave one my id
Yeah, I got to get back to my pretty little twins

Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
I'll tell you right now that it ain't no use
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth

I was lost for a year in those almond trees
The sun was rising in the south and setting in the east
I was a half awake, I was half asleep
I thought I'd never get out of those almond trees

And don't think too slow in circling the sun
You'll get buried alive when the caterpillar comes
Tapping your time on congo drums
Just don't think too slow in the circling sun

I met a black-skinned man with an ice cream grin
And a blonde afghan with some heroin
And we moved to the mountains where the highway ends
And I got myself that ice cream grin

So don't search too hard for that Aztec gold
Well, like old Cortez, you'll lose your soul
Turn an honest man into Diablo
Yeah, don't trade your soul for no Aztec gold

Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
You look in my eyes, you can (and you'll) see the proof
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth

Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth

Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth
Don't ever buy nothing from a man named Truth

I'm glad somebody got these lyrics down. I saw him last month in Columbus, Ohio, and he played this. Said it was only the second time he'd played it live before. It really amazed me. I've found some videos of it on YouTube, but the sound quality is sub-par. I hope he makes a recording of this sometime soon, it's an amazing song.

I was lucky number two, Kaidesh beat me to it.

Somehow I got more views, although I don't know why, because they have the story at the beginning of the song.

I really don't know what this song is about, it's very cryptic, but I'm glad someone got the lyrics down.

One thing though, I think it's identical twins, not biblical twins.

iknow this is incredibly delayed, but i have been listening to this alot..the version the mystic vall band played at the 400 bar.. i find it interesting, the line "I gave one my ego, I gave one my id" ego means "I" in latin and "id" means him i think interesting... also wonder what an ice cream grin is.. cocaine.. i hope not love ya conor

I don't mean to be annoying. But, i don't think he says "biblical twins" i think it's "identical twins." and possibly "Serpent's sun" not "circling"

i took this from a live version, its pretty different to the version above, i dont know what version that is... i didnt wana put up the live version so ill just show a couple inaccuracies in the tab here

this line is "I left a city through a tunnel and I headed for the sticks" not skids

and this line is "With oregano oil in a morphine drip"

oregano oil is apparently stronger than morphine as a pain killer or bloody effective at least

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
